ABSTRACT: This thesis presents the implementation and simulation of a Built-in transient power supply current sensor for CMOS SRAM cells. By measuring the transient current coming from the power supply of an array of CMOS SRAM cells, the sensor is able to detect different types of defects present on the cells. By using the sensor, it is possible to improve efficiency of different testing methods, and also to reduce overall testing time.

ABSTRACT: A current mode fault detection circuit on sub-micron embedded SRAM's is presented here. Previous work has concentrated on the use of current testing using both transient and quiescent currents to detect faults. However, quiescent current detection becomes impractical as device geometry reach sub-micron regions. Here we validate the use of transient power supply testing on sub-micron 0.35u TSMC process. The current detection circuit presented here successfully detects and differentiates between faulty-free and faulty SRAM cells.

This book provides readers with insight into an alternative approach for enhancing the reliability, security, and low power features of integrated circuit designs, related to transient faults, hardware Trojans, and power consumption. The authors explain how the addition of integrated sensors enables the detection of ionizing particles and how this information can be processed at a high layer. The discussion also includes a variety of applications, such as the detection of hardware Trojans and fault attacks, and how sensors can operate to provide different body bias levels and reduce power costs. Readers can benefit from these sensors-based approaches through designs with fast response time, non-intrusive integration on gate-level and reasonable design costs.
