This Primer Calendar is designed for beginners in Moon Planting who do not feel ready to work with the author's more comprehensive Antipodean Astro Calendar. This is a simpler version of the Astro Calendar, designed to have a broad appeal to gardeners and provide a place to keep gardening and nature observation records. Consideration to the rhythms of the Moon has been part of the planting and growing process of most early cultures throughout the world. Lunar rhythms not only affect large masses of water such as oceans (tides) and rivers, but also asserts an influence on very small bodies of liquid as can be found in plants (sap). When water is rising during the Waxing Moon, seeds sown and crops planted can more easily take up liquids than those sown in the waning phase. This is one of the first rhythms the knowledgeable gardener learns to work with to enhance plant vitality. The Moon has four significant rhythms that relate to four approaches of Moon planting explained in this Primer. Each method can be practiced singularly or in combination with the others. This Moon Planting Primer puts all this important information on the gardener's fingertips. You can readily look up phases, ascending and descending periods, proximity to the Earth or the plants' correlation to the Zodiac.

Approaching the settlement of our Moon from a practical perspective, this book is well suited for space program planners. It addresses a variety of human factor topics involved in colonizing Earth's Moon, including: history, philosophy, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, politics & policy, sociology, and anthropology. Each chapter identifies the complex, interdisciplinary issues of the human factor that arise in the early phases of settlement on the Moon. Besides practical issues, there is some emphasis placed on preserving, protecting, and experiencing the lunar environment across a broad range of occupations, from scientists to soldiers and engineers to construction workers. The book identifies utilitarian and visionary factors that shape human lives on the Moon. It offers recommendations for program planners in the government and commercial sectors and serves as a helpful resource for academic researchers. Together, the coauthors ask and attempt to answer: “How will lunar society be different?”

Climate change is a serious problem influencing agricultural production worldwide and challenging researchers to investigate plant responses and to breed crops for the changed growing conditions. Abiotic stresses are the most important for crop production, affecting about 96.5% of arable land worldwide. These stress factors include high and low temperature, water deficit (drought) and flooding, salinity, heavy metals, UV radiation, light, chemical pollutants, and so on. Since some of the stresses occurred simultaneously, such as heat and water deficit, causing the interactions of physiological processes, novel multidisciplinary solutions are needed. This book provides an overview of the present state in the research of abiotic stresses and molecular, biochemical, and whole plant responses, helping to prevent the negative impact of global climate change.
