"50 Laurel & Hardy Movie Posters" is a colorful collection of movie posters from the films of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, Hollywood's greatest movie comedy team. From 1926 to 1950, Stan and Babe (as he was affectionately known) appeared together in 106 films, both two-reelers and features. The collection in this book is a sample of movie posters from the team's silent and sound films, as well as compilation films and foreign versions. Printed in color on white paper, movie posters are presented in the order of the year of release. Each movie poster has been restored to its best possible reproduction quality. In a few cases, reproduction quality may vary, due to the condition of the original posters. But every attempt was made to improve the quality of each poster contained in this book. The book is intended to be only a sample of the movie posters used to promote many of the team's films. It does not contain information about their films nor biographical data about the team. The following is a list of the movie posters contained in the book, in the order they are published. In a few cases, window cards were substituted where one-sheet posters were unavailable. 1927: Why Girls Love Sailors, Second Hundred Years. Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy improvised many of the scenes for their classic comedies while the cameras were rolling, which meant that some excellent material in their scripts was lost - until now. Twenty complete, original screenplays for their short subjects are presented here for the the very first time. They include a treasure trove of unused but hilarious comedy routines. Among them is the entire script for a proposed 1926 comedy, never filmed, which would have been the comedians' first film as a team. The scripts are illustrated with 150 rare photos; many of them vividly depict the process of making the films. Introductions for each entry detail the fascinating differences between the scripts and the movies made from them. Full cast and credit information is also included. This collection of fabulous rarities is essential for any admirer of Stan and Ollie.

Are you an art-movie buff or a blockbuster enthusiast? Can you reel off a list of New Wave masterpieces, or are you more interested in classic Westerns? Most of us love the movies in one form or another, but very few of us have the all-round knowledge we’d like. 30-Second Cinema offers an immersion course, served up in neat, entertaining shorts. These 50 topics deal with cinema’s beginnings, with its growth as an industry, with key stars and producers, with global movements—from German Expressionism to New Hollywood—and with the movies as a business. By the time you’ve worked your way through, you’ll be able to identify the work of George Melies, define auteur theory or mumblecore in a couple of pithy phrases, and you’ll have broadened your knowledge of global cinema to embrace not only Bollywood but Nollywood, too. All in the time it takes to watch a couple of trailers.
