Excerpt from Year Book and Parish Directory of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Greenville, North Carolina, 1938 Church on one of these visitations. The Rev. Wm. E. Snow den held occasional services in Greenville until 1846, being also in charge of St. Peter's, Washington, and Trinity Chapel, Choco'winity. The Rev. N. C. Hughes assumed charge of the congregation in Greenville and Trinity Par ish on December 1846. The congregation here became St. Paul's Parish and was admitted into union with the Con vention of the Diocese of North Carolina on the 7th day of May, 1847. The Rev. C. Hughes continued to hold monthly services here until,1857. The Church Register shows that during that time he baptized fifteen white and twenty-two colored p'eople belonging to the whites; most of them were children.
