The objective of this guide is to assist federal personnel, professional and amateur botanists, and interested lay persons in the identification of the rarest plant species in Wyoming. Species covered in the guide include USFWS candidate and listed Threatened and Endangered plants, USFS Sensitive species, and plants of special concern monitored by WYNDD.

This field guide was designed for people with minimal botanical training. It is an identification aid to plant species that have ecological indicator value, are on sensitive species lists, or are considered noxious weeds. It contains illustrations and simplified taxonomic descriptions.

Since 1987, more than 225 species have been identified and described as endangered, imperiled, or declining. Complete with photographs, line drawings, and county maps, this book describes the officially listed, candidate, and species-of-concern plants in Texas. Individual accounts include information on distribution, habitat, physical description, flowering time, federal and state status, similar species, and published references.
