When author P. King was growing up, her father frequently told her and her siblings stories teaching them how to be better people and make good decisions in life. He would conclude the message with the words, "I have just given you one thousand treasures." In Words Worth a Thousand Treasures, King shares a collection of these special stories and fables that relate to everyday life, each followed by a short moral message. Passed from generation to generation, the stories show that even at low times in life, better days are ahead. Enriching and inspirational, the stories presented in Words Worth a Thousand Treasures remind us that treasures come to us each day in many different forms. Through these messages, King delivers the idea of the importance of bringing peace to one's world, viewing each day in a new light, and living a happier and more meaningful life.

British writers of the Romantic Period were popular in Germany throughout the nineteenth century, and translations of Scott, Burns, Moore, Hemans, and Byron (among others) became widespread. This study analyses the reception of William Wordsworth's poetry in 19th century Germany in relation to other romantic poets. Research into Anglo-German cultural relations has tended to see Wordsworth as of little or no interest to Germany but new research shows that Wordsworth was clearly of interest to German poets, translators and readers and that there was significantly more knowledge of and respect for Wordsworth's poetry, and interest in his ideas and beliefs, than has previously been recognised. Williams focuses particularly on the work of Friedrich Jacobsen, Ferdinand Freligrath and Marie Gothein, who span the early, middle, and late years of the century respectively and establishes the wider presence of many others translating, anthologising and commenting on Wordsworth poetry and beliefs.

Counterposing poems of the garden and the letters and journals of Wordsworth and his eloquent sister Dorothy, Carol Buchanan pictures the whole Wordsworth: poet, gardener, and devoted and long-suffering family man. Illuminating Buchanan's perspective on the gardens, and on the Lake District that shaped Wordsworth's sensibilities, are three never-before-published garden plans and more than one hundred photographs."--BOOK JACKET.
