Meanwhile, in space, an astronaut is wearing a spacesuit, which has the same technology of her wings, made by his deceased father. He uses his Angel Wingsuit to travel farther than any human has in the universe. His adventures take him to strange worlds, where he battles fierce aliens to gather materials for a device which will lead him to a place where no mortal man is allowed. A place time and space loops. Eventually, the angel and her wings encounter a demon, and then a historic duel takes place. On the brink of her defeat, she meets the astronaut, and together they battle the demon. Wingless Angels is an intensely autobiographical collection of poems spanning 25 years and two continents. Covering a full spectrum of emotions - from subtly erotic to profoundly ethereal, the author chronicles a philosophy of the duality of life, of innocence lost and gained, and the nature of our sexuality. The end piece, "Chrysalis," could well be the anthem of our generation.

A broad collection of poetry and selected prose from a young writer, "Wingless Angels" disperses the subjective and metaphysical experiences of life through free verse poetry. This work maintains that the world and the human mind are strung together in a haphazard union, leading one's experiences and interpretations to be individual and wandering - passing into and out of perspectives, imaginings, and reality. Various themes are intertwined with observations, thoughts, and the imagination - focusing on the world - grasping details and examining them, so that each poem is a single subjective interpretation. These interpretations and stories revolve around life and visit death, religion, fears, joys - what is perceptively human.

Recently angels have made a remarkable comeback in the popular imagination; their real heyday, however, was the Middle Ages. From the great shrines dedicated to Michael the Archangel at Mont-St-Michel and Monte Garano to the elaborate metaphysical speculations of the great thirteenth-century scholastics, angels dominated the physical, temporal, and intellectual landscape of the medieval West. This book offers a full-scale study of angels and angelology in the Middle Ages. Seeking to discover how and why angels became so important in medieval society, David Keck considers a wide range of fascinating questions such as: Why do angels appear on baptismal fonts? How and why did angels become normative for certain members of the church? How did they become a required course of study? Did popular beliefs about angels diverge from the angelologies of the theologians? Why did some heretics claim to derive their authority from heavenly spirits? Keck spreads his net wide in the attempt to catch traces of angels and angelic beliefs in as many portions of the medieval world as possible. Metaphysics and mystery plays, prayers and pilgrimages, Cathars and cathedrals-all these and many more disparate sources taken together reveal a society deeply engaged with angels on all its levels and in some unlikely ways.
