Charles Collie was born in 1756, the son of James Collie, an immigrant from Scotland to Virginia, and Ann Cornwell Collie. Charles' siblings were William, Mary and James. Charles married Mary and their children included Lydia, Phillip, William, Thomas, Banister, Anney, Joseph or Joel and Polly. A descendant, James II, married Nancy Jennings. Two of James and Nancy's daughters married Elizah and Samuel Richardson. Descendants settled in North Carolina, Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky.

William Worsham was probably born in England before 1619. Before 1640 he came to Virginia. He probably had married his wife Elizabeth by 1646. Their children: William Jr., Elizabeth, John, Mary, Charles. William Sr. died about 1660 in Henrico Co., Virginia. After William died, Elizabeth married Col. Francis Eppes II of Henrico Co., Virginia. Elizabeth's will was proved in Oct. 1678.

Also many families through out Virginia relocated here from such counties as: Brunswick, Charlotte, Amelia, Prince Edward, and other Tidewater counties. This book contains not only wills of individuals, but also guardians and administrators bonds; bastardy, apprentice, trustees, sheriffs and treasurers bonds, and inventories of estates. The names of approximately 14,500 persons are found in these legal records of this important county.
