The members of the shogi club head to the beach as they train for their upcoming competition, but with love in the air, shogi is the last thing on everyone's minds. On the heels of Sakurako and Takeshi's engagement (?!), will Urushi finally work up the nerve to tell Ayumu how she feels?

As if Urushi and Ayumu's shared club life wasn't complicated enough, now their families get involved. Ever the gentleman, Ayumu attempts to impress Urushi's father without betraying his intentions. But his strategic resolve will meet perhaps its greatest test yet...

Urushi, the ever-studious club president and shogi mastermind. Ayumu, the shogi-challenged but self-assured (and only other) member. He has vowed not to ask out his seemingly interested senpai until he has beaten her in one game of shogi. Obstacles abound as new members and Ayumu's old haunt, the kendo club, come bounding back into their shared world.

Ayumu is confident in almost everything he does—except shogi. This wouldn’t be a problem if not for his solemn vow not to ask out his crush, the shogi club president, Urushi, until he beats her in a single game. A year has gone by and he’s still not even close. What will happen with their back and forth, on and off the board?

After sharing a heartfelt moment together at the end of their shogi training camp, both Ayumu and Urushi must face the reality of Urushi's upcoming graduation and departure from the shogi club. Meanwhile, Rin takes advantage of Urushi's absence to make a move of her own.

When Sakura and Takeshi, the shogi club's delinquent members, finally share their first kiss, Urushi and Ayumu smell trouble. As things around them seem to get more and more romantic, can they both find a way to keep their true feelings secret?

Yaotome's the president of the shogi club at her high school, and she's pretty sure that Ayumu, an underclassman and the only other member of the club, has a huge crush on her. They get together to play shogi every day after school, but no matter what she does, she can't seem to get him to confess his feelings! What she doesn't know is that Ayumu has made a pact with himself to reveal his love only after he's beaten Yaotome at shogi for the first time. Yet there's one big issue with this plan...he really sucks!
