Approaching the Hebrew Bible as a work of literary art, Yair Mazor examines its many genres, including historical narratives, poetic narratives, poetry, psalms, and songs. Line drawings from a late nineteenth-century Bible illustrate many of the most famous scenes in scripture, suggesting another aesthetic layer of the text. By breaking the Bible into constituent parts, Mazor traces the range of its writing styles, reconfiguring the work as a literary collage and an artistic masterpiece. He shows how the aesthetics of the texts that comprise the Bible serve its over-arching message, and he develops a literary portrait of its authors by decoding their cryptic aesthetic devices.

Bernard of Clairvaux (1090 – August 20, 1153) was a French abbot and the primary builder of the reforming Cistercian order. The Song of Songs is a book of the Hebrew Bible—one of the megillot (scrolls)—found in the last section of the Tanakh, known as the Ketuvim (or "Writings"). It is also known as Canticle of Canticles or simply Canticles from the Vulgate title Canticum Canticorum (Latin, "Song of Songs"). The protagonists of Song of Songs are a woman (identified in one verse as "the Shulamite") and a man, and the poem suggests movement from courtship to consummation. For instance, the man proclaims: "As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters." The woman answers: "As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste."Additionally, the Song includes a chorus, the "daughters of Jerusalem." (from wikipedia.com) This book contains 43 beautiful sermons that St. Bernard wrote on this book. He interprets the song of songs in reference to the love between God and the soul. God is deeply in love with us, and wills our love in return. This love between the soul and God, which is the most intimate love possible, is expressed in the analogy of bride and bridegroom, where the intimacy of love is especially expressed.

Many songs appear in the Bible, but none is so great as Solomon's Song of Love. In this secondvolume of the Song of Love, the HolyName, the Fathers Tetragrammaton, isrevealed. The study of the Song of Solomon is extremely valuable in unveiling theSpiritual Prince of the Kingdom of God, the LORD Jesus Christ, and His Father's foursquare Holy Name--HisTetragrammaton.The Song of Solomon is divided into a four point study, which becomes the key to understanding the beautiful Song of Love between the Bridegroom and the Bride. Each division of the Love Song pictures a particular stage of development in the relationship between the Bridegroom, JesusChrist, His Bride, and the Father. As the Bride learns necessarylessons before her spiritual marriage relationship can be consummated, she becomes acquainted with her Bridegroom as the King of Humility, the Shepherd, the Roe, and at last, the Husbandman, with Whom she consummates her marriage, as their wills are joined.
