Lucy Carver is like Sherlock Holmes in ballet flats, but her photographic memory is more albatross than asset and something she usually keeps hidden. Noticing something’s amiss at her dead-end job, she jumps at the chance to use her ability for good. That is, until, a man is murdered, and the killer targets her. Detective Eli Reyes is overbearing and pompous, way too hot for Lucy’s own good. He seems as determined to ruin her relationship with her boyfriend, John, as he is finding the murderer. Eli brings Lucy in on the case, only to cut her loose when he realizes he’s gotten more than he bargained for. When childhood memories invade her present, Lucy discovers a mystery bigger than she imagined. With the killer after her, and Eli nowhere to be found, she's determined to expose the truth no matter what—before trouble comes knocking…again.

A Secretive Neighbor's Disappearance Raises Questions in Death Comes Knocking, a Thea Kozak Murder Mystery from Kate Flora. --Maine, Present Day-- Happy to finally be settling into her new home, a heavily pregnant Thea Kozak is rushing to get the baby’s room finished when she’s surprised by a visit from her new neighbor, Jessica, who is equally pregnant. Thrilled to meet another new mother in the neighborhood, Thea and Jessica bond over their mutual condition. But after many cups of herbal tea and cookies, Thea is puzzled by Jessica's unwillingness to talk about her past. A week later, Thea arrives at Jessica's house for a planned shopping trip to discover Jessica is gone, leaving only a trash bag of women's clothing at the end of the driveway. Returning home, there's a disturbing voice mail from Jessica: "Please, Thea. Don’t worry about me. If anyone comes looking for me, you don’t know me. You’ve never seen me. Don’t tell them anything." I am often asked to write an endorsement or a forward for a new book, but this time, I begin this endorsement with a “feeling of excitement.” I absolutely loved the idea of linking nature to a devotional. Nature has always been inspiring to me, and I often talk to God as I walk through the beauty of God’s creation around me. How can you possibly see the beauty and wonder of our planet and our universe without being inspired by the God who made it. So, when I looked at even the very idea of this manuscript I was inspired. I read the book and then I sat down to write this. I first took a walk through the wonder and beauty of God’s creation around me. As always, l can not walk through the trees or along a creek or stream without being inspired. Therefore, as I write these words I am inspired not only by this book, but by my last encounter with nature. As I read the pages, I met an author who through the beauty of her writings has linked nature and Divine inspiration and truly inspired me. Just to think about nature and talking to God brings inspiration to my whole being. So, with anticipation and great emotion, I endorse MERRY CHRISTMAS by Shirley D. Andrews. As I looked at the beautiful pictures I saw nature, but I also felt the hand of God. As I read the words of this manuscript, I knew that this author would introduce me to God, because like the artist inside of me, I would feel and experience God by what I was about to read, and I did. Thank you, Shirley for introducing me again to the God who spoke nature into existence. You must experience this book and see the God who not only has his eye on the sparrow, but made the sparrow. Shirley, you will truly inspire the world. — Dr. Thomas F. Reid I love the way Shirley brings us into the presence of our “EXTRAORDINARY” Lord through what we mistakenly consider the ordinary. Thank you Shirley for helping us to see God and draw closer to Him. Job 12:7-10 & Romans 1:20 — Rev. Jay Richmond President, Renewal Prayer Network Albany, NY Volume 3 of Shirley Andrews’ daily devotions highlights the wonderful works of God in nature and recognizes His gracious work in our lives and relationships. Shirley invites us to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. — Pastor Dave Martin Elder, Upper New York Annual Conference Hope United Methodist Church, Troy, New York

Shilohs Scepter was to leave my descendants a clear, unequivocal message of hope and truth pointing them to the God who has sustained and blessed me since I was nine years old. A great challenge in this modern computer age is finding a way to peak peoples curiosity, especially young people, about what a centuries-old book has to say. I have struggled to present many of the basic biblical truths in an easy-to-read format interesting to all ages. In these pages you can find the basis for the confident beliefs and strong convictions responsible for shaping the essence of my being and guiding my choices in life. Many of the key themes of the Christian life are addressed in the thirty-nine chapters. These include the way to salvation, coping with sin, spiritual growth and responsibility, church life, prayer, faith, anxiety, happiness, depression, materialism, old age, death, and heaven. If you own a Bible, you hold in your hand the very same scepter our Lord so deftly wielded against the enemy when tempted in the wilderness. This kingly wand, an awesome weapon and incomparable guide, will protect you from the evil one and keep you safe on your journey through life. But importantly, you must learn how to use the Word for it to be effective. Results achieved are commensurate with how well your powerful blade is brandished. If you find the time to read this book and it improves your Bible skills in any significant way, then my countless hours of writing will have been well spent. May these pages lead you humbly to the feet of Christ, enlighten your spiritual understanding, and challenge your commitment to Christian service!
