This book explores the Business and Technology route into higher education and how students with these qualifications are often at a disadvantage compared to their peers at University. Strategies of intervention such as individual facing and system facing changes at universities are outlined to ensure more supportive learning.

This volume focuses on the different passages and transitions in Vocational Education and professional work life. Exploring the personal experiences of coping with the transition from school to vocational education, vocational education to work, and – finally – within work life, the book takes account of the rapidly changing conditions under which these processes take place.

This book explores one of the enduring issues in educational research and one of the challenges for formal education. That is, understanding the relationship between learning in one context, setting or time and a subsequent related learning experience or activity. The chapters in the book examine the issue drawing on existing theory as starting points but using each author’s own research to push existing boundaries of what we know in terms of the ideas captured in the title of the book: transfer, transitions and transformations of learning. This book addresses growing reservations about the relevance of educational systems to the economic and social needs of individuals by examining different aspects of transitions from school to work or further studies within formal and informal settings in Asia.
