Tracking SDG7: The Energy Progress Report provides the international community with a global dashboard to register progress on the targets of Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7): ensuring universal energy access, doubling progress on energy efficiency, substantially increasing the share of renewable energy, and enhance international cooperation to facilitate access to clean and renewable energy by 2030. It assesses the progress made by each country on these targets and provides a snapshot of how far we are from achieving SDG7. The report is a joint effort of the International Energy Agency (IEA), the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), the World Bank, and the World Health Organization (WHO), which the United Nations (UN) has named as global custodian agencies, responsible for collecting and reporting on country-by-country energy indicators for reporting on SDG7. The report updates progress with the latest available data up to 2018 for energy access, and 2017 for clean energy. The 2020 release is the sixth edition of this report, which was formerly known as the Global Tracking Framework (GTF).

The Energy Progress Report provides a global dashboard on progress towards Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7). This report tracks global, regional and country progress on the four targets of SDG7: energy access (electricity, clean fuels and technologies for cooking), renewable energy and energy efficiency, based on statistical indicators endorsed by the UN. The report updates progress with the latest available data up to 2016 for energy access, and 2015 for clean energy, against a baseline year of 2010. A longer historical period back to 1990 is also provided by way of reference. The Energy Progress Report is a successor to the earlier Global Tracking Framework (published in 2013, 2015 and 2017), which was co-led by the IEA and World Bank under the auspices of the UN's Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All) initiative, and builds on the same methodological foundation.

The 2021 edition of Tracking SDG 7: The Energy Progress Report monitors and assesses achievements in the global quest for universal access to afordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy by 2030. The latest available data and selected energy scenarios reveal that at today's rate of progress, the world is not on track to achieving SDG 7. This is particularly true of the most vulnerable countries and those that were already lagging. This report also examines various ways to bridge the gaps, chief among them thegoal of significantly scaling up renewable energy while maximizing its socioeconomic benefits. While renewable energy has demonstrated remarkable resilience during the pandemic, the unfortunate fact is that gains in energy access throughout Africa are being reversed: the number of people lacking access to electricity is set to increase in 2020, making basic electricity services unaffordable for up to 30 million people who had previously enjoyed access. The COVID-19 crisis has revealed the stark worldwide inequalities in access to reliable energy and health care, especially in rural and peri-urban areas, and has highlighted the need to expand energy access to help populations mitigate the effects of the crisis. o!ers a snapshot of the primary indicators.

Meeting the ASEAN's rapid rising energy demand is challenging policymakers while they have tried to balance commitments to global, regional and national agendas on climate change and sustainable energy. Decisive action by the region's policymakers is needed in order to transition and expand energy systems to sustainably and equitably deliver modern energy services. In support of knowledge-sharing among Member States, this publication not only provides an overview of progress towards global SDG 7 targets and regional targets under the ASEAN framework, but also offers a country-by-country review of efforts under each of the major themes.

This monograph investigates a multitude of emerging technologies including 3D printing, 5G, blockchain, and many more to assess their potential for use to further humanity’s shared goal of sustainable development. Through case studies detailing how these technologies are already being used at companies worldwide, author Sinan Küfeoğlu explores how emerging technologies can be used to enhance progress toward each of the seventeen United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and to guarantee economic growth even in the face of challenges such as climate change. To assemble this book, the author explored the business models of 650 companies in order to demonstrate how innovations can be converted into value to support sustainable development. To ensure practical application, only technologies currently on the market and in use actual companies were investigated.
