This book explores biblical values that critique the ecclesiology of the New Apostolic Reformation Church (NARC) and compares the ecclesiology to other missional movements in the North American context. A biblical exegesis of Ephesians 4:11–13 as well as C. Peter Wagner’s conceptualization of an apostle and apostolic ministry allow the author to demonstrate the gap between the biblical perspective and Wagner’s concept of an apostle. The biblical role of an apostle is to make the church missional by emphasizing the concept of sending, whereas Wagner sees the apostle as a church leader. Based upon interviews and participant observation in three NARCs, SuYeon Yoon describes the leadership and ecclesiology based on their own self-descriptions. This book then demonstrates the gap between the biblical and conceptual ideals and the reality of ecclesial practice. The author argues that the NARC serves as a charismatic manifestation of a similar cultural response to establish a relational structure for church communities that can appropriately reflect upon and identify with the contemporary context. This implies that each movement needs to be biblically sound, faithful to its conceptualization, and relevant to the context in order to cultivate its own way of being the church.

The central research issue of this dissertation is to determine biblical values that critique the ecclesiology of the New Apostolic Reformation Church (NARC) and compare it to other missional movements in the North American context. A biblical exegesis of Ephesians 4:11-13 as well as C. Peter Wagner's conceptualization of an apostle and apostolic ministry, allows me to demonstrate the gap between the biblical perspective and Wagner's concept of an apostle. The biblical role of an apostle is to make the church rnissional by emphasizing the sending-concept, whereas Wagner sees the apostle as a church leader. This comparison enables me to evaluate three case studies which are representative of the NARC. Based upon interviews and participant observation in three NARC, I describe the leadership and ecclesiology based on their own description. I then demonstrate the gap between the biblical and conceptual ideals and the reality of ecclesial practice. This analysis demonstrates that each apostolic community is different from the others, as well as from the biblical and conceptual ideals. Yet, together they are all part of the NARC, thereby allowing for critique of the movement. I then take a closer look at the distinctive marks of the Emerging and Missional church movements and their role within contemporary North American context. I argue that the NARC serves as a charismatic manifestation of a similar cultural response to establish a relational structure for church communities that can appropriately reflect upon and identify with the contemporary context. This implies that each movement needs to be biblically sound, faithful to its conceptualization and relevant to the context in order to cultivate its own way of being the church. This allows me to conclude by urging the current NARC to learn from these other movements and position itself to be more biblical, relational and culturally relevant.

God is about to release into the earth a powerful increase of the apostolic and prophetic anointings, and restore the apostolic nature of the church itself! Every Christian needs to prayerfully consider the message of this book, and hear what the Spirit is saying to the church. Things are changing, and God is about to act again in history. The Apostolic Revelation unveils a series of dynamic concepts that are crucial to the life of the church and the restoration of its apostolic power. It establishes benchmarks for the apostolic ministry, and gives definition and substance to the new apostolic wineskin of the church. Here is a revelation of apostolic methods, and God's heart for the church and its leadership. In this study, today's apostolic message is harmonised with and grounded in the apostolic revelation of Christ given to Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles. This work is the result of 13 years of inquiry, searching the mind of the Spirit regarding the place of apostles today, and seeking to understand what it means for the church to be the mature apostolic church prepared for the coming of Christ. Apostolic grace is for every believer. This book seeks to equip you to receive a greater grace, and prepare you for the astounding days ahead. C. Peter Wagner said "After reading The Apostolic Revelation, I want to congratulate you for it. It is a brilliant book. I would not hesitate to classify it as the premier biblical theology of the apostolic movement. This book ranks up there with the very best of the exploding literature on the subject."

How the Church can recover her original, apostolic ways and become a high-impact Jesus movement again in the West. The church is on the verge of massive, category shifting, change. Contemporary church growth, despite its many blessings, has failed to stem the decline of Christianity in the West, and we are now facing the fact that more of the same will not produce different results. We are already seeing this new form of the church emerge in our day—an apostolic, reproducing Movement that's driven by a desire to see Biblical Christianity reestablished. Alan Hirsch and Dave Ferguson call this the "apostolic movement" because it's more resonant with the form of church that we witness in the New Testament and in the great missional movements of history. And we are on the verge of a new apostolic movement... In this book, Christian thought-leaders Hirsch and Ferguson share a rich array of theology, theory, and best practices, along with inspiring stories about leaders who have rightly diagnosed their churches' failure to embrace a biblical model of mission and have moved toward a fuller expression of the gospel. On the Verge will help church leaders: Imagine the contemporary Church from the apostolic perspective—how we got from there to here. Shift our mindset from technique (how to "do church") to embodiment (how to live as Christ's Church) Learn how to value, approach, and understand innovation. Move whole-heartedly toward the apostolic, missional movement. Many of the best and brightest leaders in the contemporary church are now making shifts in the way they think, lead, and organize. On the Verge will help church leaders discover how these forerunners and their insights are launching a new apostolic movement?and how any church can get involved.
