About the Author Known as RJ to his close friends, Elder Roland John Buras is from Venice, Louisiana, which is the farthest part of south Louisiana. Growing up in his little town of Venice, it was very comparable to a tropical island paradise. RJ enjoyed the hunting seasons of alligator, ducks, and the harvest season of the citrus produce. Through the years, the devastating hurricanes changed the scenery and landscape of his town. RJ excelled in music and played in a band at fourteen. At 72, RJ still enjoys playing and teaching guitar, lead guitar, and steel guitar. His second favorite was baseball in which RJ was presented with sports medals by his school and sports director, Mr. Leroy Harvey. RJ is married to Charlotte Jean Carley Buras.
