China, with the world's largest population, numerous ethnic groups and vast geographical space, is also rich in languages. Since 2006, China's State Language Commission has been publishing annual reports on what is called "language life" in China. These reports cover language policy and planning invitatives at the national, provincial and local levels, new trends in language use in a variety of social domains, and major events concerning languages in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Now for the first time, these reports are available in English for anyone interested in Chinese languge and linguistics, China's languge, education and social policies, as well as everyday language use among the ordinary people in China. The invaluable data contained in these reports provide an essential reference to researchers, professionals, policy makers, and China watchers.

This book focuses on the management and conservation of architectural heritage with the aim of increasing awareness about the value of such conservation and of saving what is left of history, which in turn rewards societies by supporting the tourism industry, generating economic return, and preserving communities’ identities. Since it has become an essential need to manage and conserve the architectural heritage in order to protect the identity and heritage of a city, there appeared a gap between the theory and its application. Therefore, a considerable amount of attention has been directed by experts in this field toward emphasizing the contribution of heritage conservation in order to inspire the development of imaginative, useful high-quality design.

The 2022 International Conference on Art Design and Digital Technology (ADDT 2022) was successfully held on September 16-18, 2022 in Nanjing, China (virtual conference). ADDT 2022 created a forum for idea sharing and research exchange, opened up new perspectives in related fields and broadened the horizons of all participants. In the conference, 150 individuals around the world took part in the conference. Divided into three parts, the conference agenda covered keynote speeches, oral presentations and online Q&A discussion. Firstly, the keynote speakers were each allocated 30-45 minutes to address their speeches. Then in the oral presentations, the excellent papers we had selected were presented by their authors one by one. We are glad to share with you that we’ve selected a bunch of high-quality papers from the submissions and compiled them into the proceedings after rigorously reviewing them. These papers feature but are not limited to the following topics: Computer Art, Visual Design, Digital Media, Innovative Technology, etc. All the papers have been checked through rigorous review and processes to meet the requirements of publication. We would like to acknowledge all of those who supported ADDT 2022 and made it a great success. In particular, we would like to thank the European Alliance for Innovation (EAI), for the hard work of all its colleagues in publishing this paper volume. We sincerely hope that the ADDT 2022 turned out to be a forum for excellent discussions that enable new ideas to come about, promoting collaborative research.

Heritage Politics in China: The Power of the Past studies the impact of heritage policies and discourses on the Chinese state and Chinese society. This report analyses all aspects of cultural diversity, which has emerged as a key concern of the international community in recent decades, and maps out new approaches to monitoring and shaping the changes that are taking place. It highlights, in particular, the interrelated challenges of cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue and the way in which strong homogenizing forces are matched by persistent diversifying trends. The report proposes a series of ten policy-oriented recommendations, to the attention of States, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, international and regional bodies, national institutions and the private sector on how to invest in cultural diversity.
