The Proceedings of Batusangkar International Conference VI (BIC VI), that was organized by Graduate Program of IAIN Batusangkar, was held in hybrid platform on 11-12 October 2021 with the main theme " Strengthening Life Harmony in 4.0 Era". The BIC VI conference includes several interesting topics such as Science, Technology Literacy, Engineering, Law, Economy, Education, and Religion. The participants came from various universities and practitioners with a total of 140 papers that were published in a proceedings. It is expected that this proceedings will bring contribution and insight, resulting in new knowledge, inspirations, and collaborations. We are very grateful for their participation. We hope to meet you again in the next edition BIC VII or BICoSecH VII.

Responding to evolving challenges toward achieving gender equality and social inclusion. 30-31 August 2021, Indonesia. This event, organized by Pusat Studi Gender, Anak, dan Keluarga (PPGAK) ‘The Center of Gender, Children, and Family Studies’ Universitas Andalas aims to promote new insights and discussion about the current global perspectives, considering the differences in academic and subject fields’ approaches across time, countries, and economic sectors, with its implications and to improve and share the scientific knowledge on gender research. Is meant to open our horizon that the issue of gender and social inclusion may be viewed from various disciplines and perspectives. This book constitutes the refereed post-conference proceedings of the 1st International Conference in Gender, Culture and Society, held online from Padang, Indonesia, August 30-31, 2021. The 85 revised full papers were carefully selected from 124 submissions. The papers are organized thematically in gender, culture and society. The papers present a wide range of insights and discussion about the current global perspectives on gender research.

Indonesia was founded on the ideal of the "e;Sovereignty of the People"e;, which suggests the pre-eminence of people's rights to access, use and control land to support their livelihoods. Yet, many questions remain unresolved. How can the state ensure access to land for agriculture and housing while also supporting land acquisition for investment in industry and infrastructure? What is to be done about indigenous rights? Do registration and titling provide solutions? Is the land reform agenda "e;legislated but never implemented"e; still relevant? How should the land questions affecting Indonesia's disappearing forests be resolved? The contributors to this volume assess progress on these issues through case studies from across the archipelago: from large-scale land acquisitions in Papua, to asset ownership in the villages of Sulawesi and Java, to tenure conflicts associated with the oil palm and mining booms in Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Sumatra. What are the prospects for the "e;people's sovereignty"e; in regard to land?

This volume examines dynamics of legal pluralism and explores the varied ways in which constellations of legal pluralism play out in social life. It aims to bridge the social and theoretical space between small scale case studies and abstract generalization. The introduction provides an overview of developments in the field of legal pluralism and offers an analytical perspective on the dynamics of the maintenance of and change in constellations of legal pluralism. Contributions examine situations in which the state is seen as remote from local settings and others in which local populations are actively engaged in widening the scope and validity of state law. By focusing on historical developments and the fault lines of rapid political change in both post-socialist and post-authoritarian states, the volume shows that legal legacies of the past continue to have an impact. Authors look at the social significance of the various, and sometimes competing, types of law which religious and secular transnational actors introduce into local settings. Franz and Keebet Benda-Beckmann are both Head of Project Group for the Project Group Legal Pluralism at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology, Halle (Germany).

Permutations of Order makes an innovative and important contribution to current discussions about the relationship between religion and law, bringing together theoretically informed case studies from different parts of the world, relating to various types of politico-legal settings and religions. This volume also deals with contemporary legal/religious transfigurations that involve "permutations," meaning that elements of "legal" and "religious" acts of ordering are at times repositioned within each realm and from one realm to the other. These permutations of order in part result from the fact that, in ethnographic settings like those examined here, "legal" and "religious" realms are relational to-and in certain cases even constitutive of-each other and they result in categoric transpositions and new social positionalities through which, among other things, "the legal" and "the religious" are blended. Permutations of Order is a work that transcends convention, identifies new and theoretically overarching themes and will be of strong interest to researchers and policy-makers seeking a comparative focus on the intersections and disjunctions of religion and law.
