From the visionary director of Terminator 3, Jonathan Mostow, we enter the world of The Megas. Beautiful. Powerful. Better. They're everything you've ever wanted to be. But at the heart of this dystopic society lies a regime struggling for control over a populace that may just be tired of being inferior. Agent Jack Madison finds himself in the middle of a maelstrom as he struggles to solve a crime and come to terms with a truth he's not ready to face. Not to mention a mysterious symbol and the seeds of rebellion. "The Megas is a book that anyone can enjoy. If you are tired of the spandex set, or are just in the mood for a good mystery, then I suggest picking up a copy from your local comic shop." -Broken Frontier "The only time I really get into political thrillers is when they are written very well, with a plot and characters I can relate to, and an art direction style that is engaging. The Megas has all this and more...(4 out of 5 stars)" - Majorspoilers.com "Jonathan Mostow and John Harrison's script has a great balance of talking heads and exposition with motion and excitement. A love scene, a chase scene and a steady escalation of things into almost Tom Clancy-esque levels." - Comic Book Resources

Created by acclaimed filmmaker John Woo, (Mission Impossible 2; Face-Off; Red Cliff) and written by acclaimed comic book writer Garth Ennis (Punisher, The Boys, Preacher) with striking artwork from Jeevan J. Kang (Nowhere Man, Ramayan 3392AD, H20). The first graphic novel from superstar action film director John Woo. Six hundred years ago, a mighty treasure fleet set out to sail the oceans of the world. They reached every continent, and discovered every land long before history's great explorers stole credit for their feats. Now, in modern day Los Angeles, seven men with nothing in common but their destinies are drawn together in the service of a mysterious young woman. An ancient prophecy must be fulfilled. Something terrible is reaching out across the centuries. There's a world to be saved, and the only hope for us all is a power too terrifying to be used. "Seven Brothers is a natural combination of Woo and Ennis. In both of their best works, the major themes addressed are brotherhood and the application of stylish but excessive force. Ennis excels in bringing a defined identity and a sense of realism to a fantastic tale." - Fractal Matter "An illustrative tour-de-force that seizes your eyes and imagination by the throat and throttles you with every turn of the page..." - The Comics Review "Ennis brought his A game to this project." (Rating 8/10) - Bam! Kapow! "If you're a fan of action movies in general, I think you'll like this." - Indy Comic Review "There's a lot of potential in this book, especially with the brothers hailing from all over the world, that could make this the hard-core, uncompromising flipside to NBC's Heroes." - Variety "This series has it all and is a must read for any comic fan." - Comic Fever

In this book the beauty and meaning of Byzantine art and its aesthetics are for the first time made accessible through the original sources. More than 150 medieval texts are translated from nine medieval languages into English, with commentaries from over seventy leading scholars. These include theories of art, discussions of patronage and understandings of iconography, practical recipes for artistic supplies, expressions of devotion, and descriptions of cities. The volume reveals the cultural plurality and the interconnectivity of medieval Europe and the Mediterranean from the late eleventh to the early fourteenth centuries. The work known as Pseudo-Kodinos, the fourteenth-century text which is one of two surviving ceremonial books from the Byzantine empire, is presented here for the first time in English translation. With facing page Greek text and the first in-depth analysis in the form of commentary and individual studies on the hierarchy, the ceremonies, court attire, the Blachernai palace, lighting, music, gestures and postures, this volume makes an important new contribution to the study of the Byzantine court, and to the history and culture of Byzantium more broadly. The unique traits of this ceremony book include the combination of hierarchical lists of court officials with protocols of ceremonies; a detailed description of the clothing used at court, in particular, hats and staffs; an account of the functions of the court title holders, a description of the ceremonies of the year which take place both inside the palace and outside; the service of the megas domestikos in the army, protocols for the coronation of the emperor, the promotions of despot, sebastokrator and caesar, of the patriarch; a description of the mourning attire of the emperor; protocol for the reception of a foreign bride in Constantinople all these are analysed here. Developments in ceremonial since the tenth-century Book of Ceremonies are discussed, as is the space in which ceremonial was performed, along with a new interpretation of the ’other palace’, the Blachernai. The text reveals the anonymous authors’ interest in the past, in the origins of practices and items of clothing, but it is argued that Pseudo-Kodinos presents descriptions of actual practice at the Byzantine court, rather than prescriptions.
