Charles Mayberry/Mabry (176?-1840) emigrated from England with two brothers and his father Isaac to Virginia. He settled in Carroll Co., VA and married (1) Elizabeth Helton about 1785-86. Their first child Amelia, was born about 1787. They were the parents of nine children: Amelia (Reynolds), Joshua, John, Isaac, Nancy (Sutphin). Samuel (b.1802) married Tabitha Branscome, Elizabeth (Montgomery), Joseph J. and Susannah (Montgomery). He married (2) Sarah. Several generations of descendants are given.

James Caudill, Sr., son of Stephen Caudill, the progenitor of this family, appears on the 1752 Lunenburg Co., Virginia Tax list. In 1784 he appears in Wilkes County, North Carolina Census. He was married to Mary Yarbrough?. They had four children born between ca. 1753 and 1773 in Lunenburg Co., Va. and Wilkes Co., N.C.

Matthew Cox (c1735-1804) was a son of Matthew Cox (c1710-c1750) who is mentioned in the will of William Cox (c1685-1754) which was probated 19 March 1754 in Essex county, Virginia and mentions his grandson Matthew, son of his deceased son named Matthew Cox. William Cox (c1685-1754) may be the William mentioned in the will of Matthew Cox (c1660-1734) dated 15 January 1733 and recorded 18 March 1734 in Goochland county, Virginia.
