I felt a depressing, lonely feeling, which I will not undertake to describe; and I at once resorted to the numerous letters which had passed between us, and spent the day in reading them. From this I found relief: It seemed like a renewal of our long, intimate fraternal intercourse. This suggested the idea of writing his biography, before it was suggested by others.
