Here’s the same old “girl posing as a boy” story but with a rock-n-roll twist. Remy Curran dreams of one day being in a band, except the group she wants to join refuses to hire a girl drummer. So, she auditions as a guy...and makes the cut. Becoming “Sticks,” a member of Non-Castrato, isn’t quite what she dreamed it would be, though. She spends most of her time keeping up the subterfuge and learning how to walk, talk, act, and drink like a man. But what’s even harder to deal with is acting oblivious when the band’s heartthrob lead singer, Asher Hart, treats her like one of the guys and not a woman. She never imagined he’d be so much more than a pretty face with a nice voice. But he’s better than perfect. He’s perfect for her. When love and lies combine, Remy must keep up the act or lose everything. But who knew lying to reach one dream could prevent you from attaining an even bigger dream?

From Katherine Schwarzenegger comes ROCK WHAT YOU'VE GOT, a hip, empowering, get-real guide to loving the body you're in. For young women today, developing a healthy body image can be a challenge. Yet Katherine Schwarzenegger has done just that. She has been there . . . and back, and has come not only to accept but to love her curvy, powerful, smart, sexy, and happy self. She wants to help other girls do the same-recognize their own beauty, both inside and out. An estimated 8 million Americans have an eating disorder. Seven million of those are young women, and more and more of them are girls. Girls are increasingly growing dissatisfied with their bodies, trying to change them and fit into some image or mold of perfection that is impossible to achieve. Where are they getting this from? The answer is clear: their moms, sisters, friends, frenemies, television, movies, magazines, and every other media outlet imaginable. When you open a magazine or watch a movie, what kind of girls do you see? Skinny ones! Impossibly perfect girls with immaculate bodies. Everywhere they look, girls are inundated with carefully airbrushed, highly inaccurate images of the female body. It's no wonder they feel something's wrong with them! In this down-to-earth, reassuring, and fun book, Katherine calls for a new way of seeing what is beautiful. Packed with informative facts, moving personal anecdotes from Katherine's life, and the voices of other Rock What You've Got women, her book celebrates the female form, whatever the size, and inspires girls to ROCK WHAT YOU'VE GOT!

"Harrigan's novel, part mystery and part coming-of-age, explores the process of healing from tragedies and misunderstandings."—Publishers Weekly An atmospheric novel about a young woman who uncovers devastating secrets that will resurrect the people she lost and the lies she buried—a suspenseful spin on the tender Southern novel. Ten years ago, Julie Portland accidentally killed her best friend, Reba. What's worse is she got away with it. Consumed by guilt, she left the small town of Lawrence Mill, Mississippi, and swore nothing would ever drag her back. Now, raising her daughter and struggling to make ends meet, Julie still can't forget the ghost of a girl with golden hair and a dangerous secret. When August, Reba's first love, begs Julie to come home to find the diary that Reba kept all those years ago, Julie's past comes creeping back to haunt her. That diary could expose the shameful memories Julie has been running from, but it could also unearth the truths that Reba left buried...and reveal that Julie isn't the only one who feels responsible for Reba's death. A Southern mystery perfect for fans of Diane Chamberlain and Ellen Marie Wiseman, Secrets of Southern Girls, is a thriller that delivers suspense, romance, and healing. "Harrigan is a great prose stylist who knows how to sustain the tension and tone required of a Southern Gothic novel."—ForeWord

Alamut takes place in 11th Century Persia, in the fortress of Alamut, where self-proclaimed prophet Hasan ibn Sabbah is setting up his mad but brilliant plan to rule the region with a handful of elite fighters who are to become his "living daggers." By creating a virtual paradise at Alamut, filled with beautiful women, lush gardens, wine and hashish, Sabbah is able to convince his young fighters that they can reach paradise if they follow his commands. With parallels to Osama bin Laden, Alamut tells the story of how Sabbah was able to instill fear into the ruling class by creating a small army of devotees who were willing to kill, and be killed, in order to achieve paradise. Believing in the supreme Ismaili motto “Nothing is true, everything is permitted,” Sabbah wanted to “experiment” with how far he could manipulate religious devotion for his own political gain through appealing to what he called the stupidity and gullibility of people and their passion for pleasure and selfish desires. The novel focuses on Sabbah as he unveils his plan to his inner circle, and on two of his young followers — the beautiful slave girl Halima, who has come to Alamut to join Sabbah's paradise on earth, and young ibn Tahir, Sabbah's most gifted fighter. As both Halima and ibn Tahir become disillusioned with Sabbah's vision, their lives take unexpected turns. Alamut was originally written in 1938 as an allegory to Mussolini's fascist state. In the 1960's it became a cult favorite throughout Tito's Yugoslavia, and in the 1990s, during the Balkan's War, it was read as an allegory of the region's strife and became a bestseller in Germany, France and Spain. Following the attacks of September 11, 2001, the book once again took on a new life, selling more than 20,000 copies in a new Slovenian edition, and being translated around the world in more than 19 languages. This edition, translated by Michael Biggins, in the first-ever English translation.

From one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary urban fiction comes a gripping, erotic, edge-of-your-seat thriller about four strangers whose lives are about to collide, with explosive and murderous consequences. Alias suffers from a curse that has haunted his family for generations and he vows to do whatever it takes to end it, even if the breaking of the curse results in his own death. D. Wayne's traumatic childhood at the hands of his abusive mother has turned him into a demented killer following the voice of his God, Ruh, who guides him in a deadly search—a journey that leads him to the brink of madness. Doin and Joozy both feel separated from the rest of the society, but as their imperfections draw them together, they discover a love that they thought was impossible. Set in the raw and tumultuous landscape of the projects, Nane Quartay's sharp-edged second novel chronicles the lives, loves, and losses of these four young strangers whose lives become inextricably intertwined. Eroticism, mysticism, and suspense are seamlessly woven together in a tough and thought-provoking narrative that reaches a shocking climax and brings an entire city to the brink of chaos.
