The Feminine Reclaimed breaks new ground in the field of Renaissance scholarship. Stevie Davies considers the feminine principle as it was developed through the humanist and Neoplatonic revival of ancient classical learning and from this perspective approaches the major works of the three great literary figures of the English Renaissance—Spenser, Shakespeare, and Milton. Through close, perceptive readings of their most crucial works, informed by a familiarity with the whole range of their context in the European literature and thought of their time, Stevie Davies is able to demonstrate the great importance of the feminine principle in the consciousness of these writers and their age, a time of political, religious, and social upheaval in which perceptions of woman and her status in society underwent momentous changes. She analyzes guiding symbols, mythical allusions, and literary structures in major works by the three poets to show that this rediscovered image of the feminine was incorporated into The Faerie Queene, Shakespeare's last plays, and Paradise Lost in such a manner as to create an alternative system of values which either redefined or criticized the patriarchal structures of the contemporary world.

Cecilia, a fifteenth-century Christian martyr, has long been considered the patron saint of music. In this pathbreaking volume, ten of the best known scholars in the newly emerging field of feminist musicology explore both how gender has helped shape genres and works of music and how music has contributed to prevailing notions of gender. The musical subjects include concert music, both instrumental and vocal, and the vernacular genres of ballads, salon music, and contemporary African American rap. The essays raise issues not only of gender but also of race and class, moving among musical practices of the courtly ruling class and the elite discourse of the twentieth-century modernist movement to practices surrounding marginal girls in Renaissance Venice and the largely white middle-class experiences of magazine and balladry.

There comes a point in everyone's life where we find ourselves looking in the mirror and asking, "Who the hell am I?" Author Michele Wong was living the life. She had a seemingly fulfilling career and a lively social circle, all while living in an international city filled with opportunity. At the same time, Michele felt an emptiness she could no longer ignore. Feminine Reclaimed is a spiritual memoir that explores Michele's journey to return to her body, embrace her emotions, harness her natural mystical gifts, and reclaim her divine feminine. Through her personal stories, Michele shares her experience of self-exploration and discovery that can come from facing our ancestral and past trauma, unlearning behaviors and patterns, and letting go of the fears that no longer serve us. The book dives into the exploration of plant medicine, energy healing, and mediumship. Wong shows how going within is nothing less than claiming sacred power for oneself and taking back the ability to live our fullest life in the name of love.

Reclamation isn’t about taking back what was stolen and winning. It’s about owning what you’ve always had and ending the war inside. New York Times bestselling author and published natural health reclamation advocate Kelly Brogan MD is back to push the envelope of discourse on self-ownership, authenticity, and sovereignty. This time, she has a message for all women: you deserve to feel alive. Showcasing the reasons modern women are living hollow, unfulfilling, overwhelming, and complaint-filled lives, The Reclaimed Women resolves the gaslight that says, we should be enjoying the freedom hard-wrought by feminism, sexual liberation, and medication. Women are lost, we’ve been duped, and we’ve abandoned our true nature in exchange for seeming empowerment. Masterful at offering women the permission to self-embrace, Brogan invites you to come home to yourself so that you can finally experience the specific pleasure of who you are. This book offers a provocative perspective on feminine reclamation including the imperative to learn the skills of self-safety in order to embody creative expression. Using actionable steps based on the experience of her own heroine’s journey, Brogan’s "one stop shop" will help you claim the jewels from the cave of your shame, own your badness, and align with your desires. Refreshing, candid, and transformational, The Reclaimed Woman exposes all of the ways that women are outsourcing their power and living life from childhood wounds in business, mothering, and relationships. If you feel like . . . you say no when you mean yes and yes when you mean no there’s more to you but don’t know how to access it you’re confused about where sexuality belongs in your life you feel you need to explain yourself to others who question your decisions you partner with safe, nice guys or try to control dangerous ones you make yourself small to make other women comfortable you’re bitter, jealous, resentful, and can easily describe women you can’t stand even the celebratory moments feel a bit empty . . .
