The book is about Fluffy, a duck who thought she couldnt swim even though she lived and played in a meadow next to a pond. She spent little time with her mother, Mother Duck, and instead spent all her happy playtimes with her friend Frog. Fluffy grew older and had three ducklings. One day, as she strolled in the meadow, she was full of worry that her three ducklings were getting old and needed to be taught to swim. One conversation with Giraffe, that it takes Courage to beat the Fear, was good enough to boost Fluffys spirit immediately. The moral of the story is about courage. It always seems impossible until its done (Nelson Mandela).

Torise, the turtle, meets a new friend who is a duck named Dorothy. They decide to go on a walk in the woods where they meet Reddy the fox. Although Reddy has other plans for them, he comes to appreciate their friendship. Through a series of adventures and mishaps, the three bond. Torise and Dorothy eventually find their way safely home.

Although her parents love walking in the rain, Baby Duck does not--until Grandpa shares a secret with her.

WHAT INSPIRED THE BOOK ... It seems that, these days perhaps more than ever, children need a positive message to latch on to — even at an early age. In this story, parents Doc and Dixie could only support their son Dooley as he met the challenges caused by the fact he could not quack. And in the end, his persistence and will to be successful proved to be the difference. Though the story took on many paths throughout its journey, the sets of young eyes belonging to my grandchildren eventually got the story and its message just right.

It's a big day for Baby Duck. He's going for his very first swim. How exciting is that? But when he reaches the pond, Baby Duck isn't so sure any more. The water looks deep and dark and SCARY.
