Battle But, aside from this example, if there be dignity in our profession, it is right that it Should be known, in order that we may endeavor to sustain that dignity as we ought, and that others may be led to appreciate it as they should. The fact that it is right for us to consider this subject, becomes more striking, when we consider the evil that would result from its neglect. A man who is insensible to the dignity of his own position, will act accordingly, and thus bring dishonor at once upon himself and on his profession. Nothing can be more evident, than that neither we nor others, can act up to the claims which our holy calling has upon us respectively, unless we know what those claims are. Reason and Scripture, thus both justifying my task, I shall proceed to set forth some of the points, which constitute the dignity of the Gospel ministry.
