Even though the osteopathic profession is over 100 years old, very little literature has been available to assist the public in better understanding osteopathic medicine. Perhaps this is the primary reason many persons cling to "old wives tales" in their concept of this uniquely American medical profession.It is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to relate in a few brief pages the history, nature, philosophy, methods, and processes of development of any profession and do it justice.
