Hiram Williams, also known as Hoosier Daddy, plays and writes music for a country blues band while an officer of the law. The two jobs conflict at times, especially when Williams becomes the lead detective handling the murder case of his closest friend. The assignment leads him to a new mystery involving his girlfriend. The only good outcome is the inspiration he receives to write the song, "Coulee Dam Madam."
