Enquanto os volumes anteriores da série "Teoria da História" puderam desenvolver um panorama em torno das diversas abordagens já tradicionais neste campo da análise, já o livro "Acordes Historiográficos: Uma nova Proposta para a Teoria da História" propõe, experimentalmente, uma nova forma de olhar para o pensamento historiográfico. O modelo evocado é o da Música, e o conceito principal a ser instrumentalizado é o de "acorde" - artifício metafórico que pretende se mostrar suficientemente flexível para apreender a "identidade teórica" de autores complexos, entre alguns daqueles que se tornaram importantes para a historiografia.
