Daniel Cone (ca.1626-1706) immigrated in 1652 from England to Boston, Massachusetts, moving to Haddam, Connecticut by 1665, and married twice. Russell Freeman Cone (1808-1884), a direct descendant, immi- grated in the late 1830s with his family from New Hampshire to Pontiac County, Quebec. Descendants and relatives lived in Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and elsewhere. Includes some ancestry and family history in Scotland.

This work unexpectedly reveals several relatives and ancestors who fought in the American Revolution, a grand uncle who died at Antietam (and his brother who died in the Peninsula campaign), Mayflower ancestors, descent from celebrated Huguenots and the ironmongers of Pontypool, Monmouthshire, the Hanbury's. While much of the research is conventional "paper trail" work, it also leans heavily on the innovations of DNA tests, both autosomal and Y. Colonels who served as staff officers or with special units, such as the U.S. Veteran Volunteer Infantry, the U.S. Volunteer Infantry, the Veteran Reserve Corps and various organizations previously undocumented, are also included.
