The purpose of this book is to help the reader to spend sixty rewarding days in the Third Gospel, following a schedule of readings taking the reader through Luke's 24 chapters. All too often the Gospels are experienced in bits and pieces. This book will expose the reader to the whole Gospel of Luke, providing a fuller sense of the scope and continuity of this marvelous tract of faith. The daily interpretations are intended, not as exhaustive expositions of all that is intended by the various passages, but as "meditations," suggestive of "contemplation," "musing," "pondering," "reflection," "study" or "thought, ." With each day's reading and meditation, there is a daily suggestion of a thought to ponder and "prime the pump" of the reader's own mind and heart. Stimulated by these thoughts and questions, readers may find the Holy Spirit leading them to what is important and relevant for their own lives. Each day ends with a prayer-starter intended to suggest the direction in which the readers' own prayers might be directed. No "Amen" is added because they are intended to be open-ended for the reader to complete. The study and prayer sections are equally important.

Danny Reed was a genius who was raised by his Aunt after the death of his parents when he was a baby. He was also an idealist who enlisted into the United States Navy, thinking he would be able to make a difference in the world. Once in, he became a hospital corpsman and volunteered for duty with a United States Marine Corps unit that was being deployed overseas to Vietnam. However, the moment he set foot upon the Southeast Asian shoreline, a strange and dark metamorphosis began to take shape within him, leaving those who loved him the most wondering if he would ever make it back from the self induced hell he eventually became a part of, or would he fall into the abyss, never to return.

Would you like to experience true happiness? When it comes to happiness, most of us have the same questions. Why can’t I be consistently happy? Is it wrong to be happy when there’s so much pain and suffering in the world? And perhaps the biggest one: How can I be happier? Some Christians make an artificial contrast between joy and happiness, while others claim God wants us to be holy, but not happy. In fact, he wants us to be both, and the two go hand in hand! In 60 Days of Happiness, noted theologian and New York Times bestselling author Randy Alcorn shares sixty timeless devotions demonstrating that God not only wants us to be happy in him and enjoy his gifts, he commands and empowers us to do so.

When Chloe’s employer amps up the verbal abuse and her ex-husband succumbs (again) to his addictions, she accepts a job offer across the country. Before starting their new lives, Chloe and the boys visit the family cottage at Blue Lake for their annual summer vacation. When Luke meets Chloe, he’s blown away. She’s a strong, smart, gorgeous woman, and he wants to know her better. This sweet dream dies when Luke learns Chloe is a single mom. His #1 dating rule is “no single mothers.” He shuts down fast because he’s been there, done that, and has the broken heart to prove it. Blending families and addressing addictions co-mingle with summer sunshine in a small lakeside town where the roots of love grow deeper than life’s challenges.
