THEOLOGY FOR BEGINNERS FRANK SHEED — A Catholic Classic! — Includes Linked Headings, Index and Table of Contents — Includes Religious Illustrations Publisher: Available in Paperback: ISBN-13: 978-1-78379-502-4 “Not on bread alone doth man live,” said Christ Our Lord, quoting Deuteronomy to the Devil. Everybody knows the phrase, and most people tend to complete it according to their own fancy of what is most important to the hungry soul of man. But it had its own completion in Deuteronomy and Our Lord reminded the Devil of that too—“but by every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God.” Revealed truth, then, is food. Now it is a peculiarity of food that it nourishes only those who eat it. We are not nourished by the food that someone else has eaten. To be nourished by it, we must eat it ourselves. "But, I don't know how to study the Bible on my own." Does this sound familiar? Perhaps you have used this excuse yourself. The Unashamed was written to counteract this mind-set. As you go through this book you will learn essential skills and methods that will enable you to accurately study Scripture on your own. Personal Bible study is one of the most important and rewarding of all of the spiritual disciplines. We are commanded to "be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15).

Christians know we are saved by our faith in Jesus, but we can't always answer other people's questions about how that works. Faith Simplified is written for Christians seeking a deeper and clearer understanding of their faith. It explains Christianity to the non-theologian by taking the reader through Scripture to see where the theology of salvation originated, why it makes sense, and how salvation through Jesus was God's plan from the beginning. Although Faith Simplified explains complex theology from a scholarly perspective, the conversational tone, narrative illustrations, and bullet summaries provide "light bulb" moments of understanding. God wants it to be simple to believe in him. He also gave us minds so we could understand our faith. Faith Simplified explains Christian theology so that not only is it simple and easily understood, it also makes sense, making our faith stronger and easier to share.
