Integrationism offers a radically contextual approach to the sign and represents a direct challenge to academic linguistics. This book sets out for the general reader its key claims and insights and explores criticisms offered of its approach, as well as the paradoxes that arise from its attack on the notion of linguistic expertise. For the first time integrationism is subjected to an extended contrastive analysis with semiotics.

Signposts Along the Way is a collection of essays meant to encourage those who seek to "touch the Spirit within their soul's innermost." It offers pointers--signposts--that help these seekers stay steadfast on their path towards inner awakening and avoid missteps. As in his other books, BYR emphasizes the importance of inner experience versus thought or belief. He counsels us to pursue spiritual experience in a calm and clear headed manner, avoiding the allure of ecstatic or other extreme emotional states. Here he also introduces other themes: the beauty of appreciating things we may take for granted, such as the energies transmitted through the written word; the nature of healing power and what makes someone a true healer; the need to avoid the trap of idealizing others on the one hand, or of criticizing them mindlessly on the other; and the harm that comes from assuming one is qualified to impart spiritual wisdom to others when one may not be truly ready. This book also includes 22 poems that echo the themes of the prose. Contents: Promise. Experience and Phenomenon. Knowing and Conveying Knowledge. The Art of Reading. On Letters. Cults of Personality. The Urge to Criticize. Who Was Jakob Boehme? The Gift of Healing. The Dangers of Mysticism. Poems. The Kober Press publishes the only English translations of the books of Bô Yin Râ authorized by the Kober Verlag, Switzerland. The aim of this study is to present, as far as possible, a general description of the theory of the sign and signification in Augustine of Hippo (354-430 AD), with a view to its evaluation and implications for the study of semiotics. Accurate studies for subject, discipline, and significance have not yet given an organic and systematic vision of Augustine’s theory of the sign. The underlying aspiration is that such an endeavour will prove to be beneficial to the scholars of Augustine’s thought as well as to those with a keen interest in the history of semiotics. The study uses Augustine’s own accounts to investigate and interpret the philosophical problem of the sign. The focus lies on the first decade of Augustine’s literary production. The De dialectica, is taken as the terminus ad quo of the study, and the De doctrina christiana is the terminus ad quem. The selected texts show an explicit engagement with poignant discussion on the nature and structure of the sign, the variety of signs and their uses. Although Augustine’s intention never was to establish a theory of meaning as an independent field of study, he largely employed a theory of signs. Thus, Augustine’s approach to signs is intrinsically meaningful.

Talk about God is often the source of controversy. Theists and atheists are equally passionate when making their stand for or against belief in God. In this book, a wide range of philosophers of religion have come together to discuss how serious talk about God ought to be conducted for theists and atheists alike in what should be their common pursuit for truth. The essays both address methodological questions and provide a range of concrete samples of serious God-talk, spanning from political, religion, and classical proofs of God's existence to the problem of evil.
