How wonderful the season, when we first found love? It seemed it would last forever. Aiyeko-ooto in 50 poems eulogize the rich epic of love and poverty of its loss. The Poet paints solemn colors of this experience in 5 movements: We all know what it was to be the "clown of April". Happy like fools, until the "Broken Veil". In desperation time stole everything, it appears as the season closes. Hearts are "Carved Without Mercy". The distance and time are the enemies. While "Murder takes place in the Dark". The only thing that remains as Summer close into Autumn is a fall. Lonely as hearts take " Walk In the Rain". There is doxology in this experience which must not pass away unquoted: "If I died tonight, it would have been enough, Then, I'll live, forever in depth of your heart, I am at the confluence, of water and rock, Buffing the sides and smiles in response, So smooth you are there, everywhere"

Baseball’s No-Hit Wonders honors such legendary pitchers as Cy Young, Bob Feller, Nolan Ryan and Sandy Koufax, while introducing readers to other eccentrics and one-shot wonders who have thrown no-hitters. The book, the first of its kind in more than fifteen years, fleshes out the colorful characters, compelling narratives and statistical oddities from baseball’s 289 no-hit efforts—as well as the many near misses that are also part of the national pastime’s storied history. Painstaking research and personal interviews have allowed the author to pack great detail into a fun, fast-paced take on the game, revealing the stories of the no-hitter thrown by a pitcher on acid, the hitters most adept at breaking up no-hitters and other gems thrown by guys with nicknames of Bumpus, Bobo, Cannonball and Nixey. Even the game’s greatest slugger is credited with a partial no-hitter, and all he did was throw a punch.?? Chapters detailing the best no-hitters of all time are interspersed with "Did You Know?" lists that include no-hitters by team, city and day of the week, no-hitters of the Negro Leagues, catchers who caught the most no-nos and the best pitchers NOT to throw a no-hitter. The one-hit wonder has a long and storied history in popular music, exhorting listeners to dance, to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony, to ponder mortality, to get a job, to bask in the sunshine, or just to get up and dance again. Catchy, memorable, irritating, or simply ubiquitous, one-hit wonders capture something of the mood of a time. This collection provides a series of short, sharp chapters focusing on one-hit wonders from the 1950s to the present day, with a view toward understanding both the mechanics of success and the socio-musical contexts within which such songs became hits. Some artists included here might have aspired to success but only managed one hit, while others enjoyed lengthy, if unremarkable, careers after their initial chart success. Put together, these chapters provide not only a capsule history of popular music tastes, but also ruminations on the changing nature of the music industry and the mechanics of fame.

When Pedro Martinez won his first Cy Young Award with the Boston Red Sox in 1999 many people in the baseball world claimed it to be one of, if not, the greatest pitching achievement of all-time. Though a remarkable campaign it hardly ranks as the greatest ever. This book lists in order the top 150 pitching performances for a single season between the years 1900-1999. Based on the grading system developed for this book Pedro’s season ranks as the 45th best season for a pitcher. Who is the greatest pitcher in the history of baseball? Is it Walter Johnson or Christy Mathewson? Some may argue for Roger Clemens or Nolan Ryan. The debate as to the best ever will continue but the chapter comparing pitchers of today and yesteryear will offer some new insights. This book will truly interest the baseball enthusiast because it offers clear and interesting data. Plus the measuring stick used for the rankings is not based on opinion, potential or favoritism but rather on fair and unbiased criteria. Eighty-seven pitchers (biographies included), from the famous to the one season wonders, make up the list of the greatest 150 pitching seasons. Included as well are brief summaries of an additional 130 pitchers.
