This volume presents an up-to-date review of developmental aspects of human attention by leading researchers and theorists. The papers included in the first section consider the ways in which newborns are pretuned to visual, auditory, linguistic, and social features of their environment, as well as how selectivity to these features changes in the first year of life. The following section examines properties of the visual and auditory world that are attention-getting for children. Developmental increases in capacity and strategy are also examined in this section through the study of perception, memory, problem-solving and language. Section III explores several ways in which selective processing can fail in development (e.g. autism, hyperactivity, and psychopathy) while Section IV reports on those aspects of selectivity that are lost (and preserved) in the aging process.

Indigenous methodologies have been silenced and obscured by the Western scientific means of knowledge production. In a challenge to this colonialist rejection of Indigenous knowledge, Anishinaabe re-searcher Kathleen Absolon describes how Indigenous re-searchers re-theorize and re-create methodologies. Indigenous knowledge resurgence is being informed by taking a second look at how re-search is grounded. Absolon consciously adds an emphasis on re with a hyphen as a process of recovery of Kaandossiwin and Indigenous re-search. Understanding Indigenous methodologies as guided by Indigenous paradigms, worldviews, principles, processes and contexts, Absolon argues that they are wholistic, relational, inter-relational and interdependent with Indigenous philosophies, beliefs and ways of life. In exploring the ways Indigenous re-searchers use Indigenous methodologies within mainstream academia, Kaandossiwin renders these methods visible and helps to guard other ways of knowing from colonial repression. This second edition features the author’s reflections on her decade of re-search and teaching experience since the last edition, celebrating the most common student questions, concerns, and revelations.

The two books in one volume in your hands give invaluable guidance for Seekers who have taken the courageous first steps along the Path of spiritual evolution. The authors base their knowledge on their personal spiritual experiences, the teachings of Ascended Masters from many traditions, and recent spiritual insights from Russia. The Laws of Life gives a basic spiritual roadmap for our journey. This book reveals the cosmic Laws that govern our life and explains their acting mechanisms. The Return of the Prodigal Son addresses our need for practical methods to reach our destinations along life's journey. Such methods can be applied by anyone, anywhere, to come in better touch with the wisdom that already exists within all of us - the Inner God. These include developing the abilities: to read Karmic Signals and to escape the spiritual prisons - "cocoons", to balance the collected Karma and to establish the channel of communication with the Higher Self, to become a pure "Spiritual Converter", to co-create with Spirit, to apply the opportunities the "Seasons of Life" present for spiritual growth - amongst many other fascinating and practical techniques.
