Comunicación especializada y divulgación en la red: aproximaciones basadas en corpus adopta un enfoque basado en corpus para analizar los principales rasgos discursivos de la divulgación y de la comunicación especializada en español. El volumen presenta un modelo teórico para el estudio de la divulgación en los géneros digitales y lo aplica a una serie de estudios de caso que analizan diferentes rasgos (entre otros, la metáfora, la polifonía o los encuadres discursivos) que permiten caracterizar cómo se comunican contenidos especializados a un público lego. La investigación se basa en el corpus WebLesp, que contiene distintos géneros digitales en cuatro ámbitos sectoriales: medicina, derecho, economía y ciencia. El volumen se dirige a investigadores expertos y principiantes, así como a alumnado y profesorado, interesados en la lingüística española, el análisis de género, el análisis del discurso, el español para fines específicos y la lingüística de corpus. Providing a theoretical framework for the study of popularization in web genres, this book proposes a series of case studies exploring a range of features (including metaphor, polyphony and discourse frames) that contribute to characterise how specialised knowledge is communicated to lay audiences. The research is based on the WebLesp corpus, containing different web genres pertaining to four major domains: law, economics, medicine, and science. Integrated Health Service Delivery Networks (IHSDN) based on primary health care (PHC) are the most promising solution for health systems to satisfy the health needs of the population and to address access, efficiency, quality and equity challenges faced by health systems of the world. PHCs essential attributes (people and family centered care, comprehensiveness, continuity, longitudinality) position this approach as one of the key strategies for countries to meet the aspiration of achieving universal health coverage. Creating care networks has been a common thread running through Latin America and the Caribbeans health policy agendas. In terms of actually putting the IHSDN model in action, there is a wide range of interpretations and experiences, with designs, scales, organizational methods, and maturity levels that vary within and between countries. This book shares evidence of the progress made in forming and launching IHSDN in Latin America based on four case studies conducted in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico. The results were found by systematically applying an instrument that collects regional information on the context and features of the IHSDNs governance, funding, care models, and IHSDN management models. The books chapters describe the characteristics of IHSDN in the four studied countries, lessons are drawn from how these IHSDN have been designed and implemented, challenges for the future are identified and recommendations are provided on what will it take to consolidate the IHSDN model in Latin America. The hypothetical story of Dioselina, illustrates throughout the book the obstacles and difficulties that arise for a diabetic patient when using health services that are not people-centered. The results shed light on how prepared IHSDN in this region are to provide patient-centered care and where to focus efforts for improvement. The evidence found in this study will help develop and advance PHC in Latin America.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) also known as sexual and gender minority (SGM) populations have been the focus of global attention. Most importantly, LGBT populations have been addressed in the context of human rights in multiple reports and other activities by the United Nations and other international organizations. There is great variation among countries in the recognition of LGBT individuals’ human rights. A global focus on LGBT populations’ health is still limited, with the notable exception of HIV research. This book on LGBT populations and cancer in the global context is, therefore, an important step in that it will broaden the focus on LGBT populations’ health. Globally, cancer is the second leading cause of death. Cancer morbidity and mortality are increasing disproportionately among populations in lower-income countries. A review conducted by the World Health Organization (WHO) found that of the 82% of member states (158) countries, only 35% of the national cancer control plans addresses vulnerable population, including LGBT populations. These findings reflect an increasing awareness about equity when addressing cancer prevention and control, including LGBT populations. This book addresses LGBT populations’ cancer burden across countries that range from high- to low-income countries to support efforts in diverse countries that are working towards reducing LGBT populations’ cancer burden. It documents place-specific challenges that impede progress towards reducing the LGBT cancer burden as well as critically assesses the variation in cancer control efforts that target LGBT populations and cancer to support progress at a global scale. This book includes six sections that cover the six WHO regions, with each chapter written by an author from the specific region s/he is covering. Each chapter makes use of a template that contextualizes the region, local data collection/availability, risk factors, cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.
