Future Memory Work addresses a crucial challenge in contemporary pluralistic societies: the organisation of open, participatory and socially inclusive memory practices in digital media ecologies. It brings a novel relational approach to future memory work across institutions, people, and modalities. Advancing inter- and transdisciplinary research and rich empirical cases from across Europe and beyond, the book examines how memory practices in digital media are open for engagement of people with diverse backgrounds. It analyses the modalities of memory making and how they can enable institutional and public memory making with a broad spectrum of people and groups in civil society at local, translocal, national and global levels. The chapters examine the mediatized character of memory making, whilst also critically considering what obstacles and potentials emerge from participatory memory work. As a whole, the book is a comprehensive source of knowledge and ideas for creating socially inclusive, sustainable memory practices and futures. It sets the multidisciplinary research agenda for advancing studies of heritage in contemporary digital media as an element and a driver of cultural and social change. Future Memory Work is essential reading for academics, students and professionals working in the fields of Anthropology, Museum Studies, Digital Cultural Heritage, Memory Studies, Cultural Studies and Design.

Although co-design has been practised in new service and product development for some years, it has only recently begun to appear in the burgeoning field of social innovation. It appears to be well-attuned to this new context, offering as it does an open-ended relational process to generate novel solutions to problems whose very definition seems to escape more conventional approaches. However, even less research attention has been paid to co-design than to social innovation. This book explores the potential of co-design as a social innovation process. It reviews the diverse theoretical and disciplinary foundations on which co-design is based. It proposes a framework for understanding co-design as a cohesive practice across the extremely broad scope of its potential applications. It explores appropriate approaches to governance and evaluation of co-design initiatives and outlines the key issues and limitations on its use. Although it is intended to provide a robust theoretical basis for researching co-design initiatives, it will also be of interest to anyone who is contemplating putting co-design into practice.

Design consists of the solution proposals put forward by the designer for the target audience. The changing needs of the target audience cause the designer to change the solutions. Although the act of designing seems to take place in the triangle of mass-object-designer, it is also affected by the period it is in, independently of these components. The changing perception of taste with the change of the period, the adoption of fast consumption, the advancement of technology, the attempt to establish the real world in the virtual with this progress, and the widespread use of social media causes different effects on different user groups. Some users, who feel this effect, adapt to it and try to meet their needs in parallel, while the other part shows a conscious resistance to this effect and prefers to maintain a perception of liking from the past. It is important to share these views to break the resistance and ensure the construction of a new agenda. Contemporary Manifests on Design Thinking and Practice reveals the current problems, practices, and research of the period in design disciplines. It gives readers the opportunity to see the impact of the ever-present change and transformation in design as a whole. Covering topics such as alternative design models, social media interaction, and urban social sustainability, this premier reference source is a dynamic resource for designers, architects, industrial designers, business leaders and executives, students and faculty of higher education, librarians, researchers, and academicians.
