The Masters of the Queen's Bench Division have the collective duty of superintending the business of the Central Office and of giving any directions required on questions of practice and procedure. It is a duty imposed by Order 63 Rule 2 of the Rules of the Supreme Court but where the rules are silent on a particular point, ad hoc decisions and directions have long been crystallized into Masters' Practice Directions - and into Masters' Practice Forms when there is no statutory form in appendix A to the rules which meet the case.
