We all need healing in our lives today: healing from health issues; healing from broken hearts; healing from hopelessness in a chaotic world. Sylvia was one such person who desired healing in her life, dealing with personal challenges stemming from being raised in a broken home. Her parents divorced when Sylvia was six years old, and at age eighteen, her broken heart still had not mended. Having attended Christian churches throughout her childhood, Sylvia still felt in need of God's healing touch to handle the trials she was facing. Her prayers were answered in 2008, when she was introduced to Qigong meditation, a Chinese meditation that utilizes everything in a person (heart, mind, body, and spirit) to improve one's overall health and well-being. Sylvia soon became a dedicated student of Master Chunyi Lin, founder of Spring Forest Qigong, and implemented her Christian faith into her practice of Qigong meditation. The result is her new guide, Qigong for Christians: A Christ-Centered Healing Meditation, which brings twelve steps of meditative healing associated with Qigong together with the scriptural insight of the Bible. Sylvia is a strong believer in the power of connecting with God for direction in life, feeling God leading her as a child toward a career in nursing. She has worked in the nursing field since 1994, and has been a nurse practitioner for the past thirteen years. Her background in healthcare influences her appreciation for the comfort of Qigong, and the results she knows firsthand that it can bring. Each page guides readers easily through different meditation steps, visualizations, and mental exercises with Qigong, enhanced by Sylvia's direction of praising God and being aware of Jesus' sacrifices on the cross to restore our connection to God. Scripture references accompany each step to acquaint readers with the author's promptings of Biblical faith while doing Qigong meditation. As she witnessed the benefits of Qigong for Christians to herself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, Sylvia also wishes for readers to have their own personal experiences and improvements as they connect with God through this Jesus-centered healing meditation.

Max Sculley's definitive critique of Yoga, Tai Chi and Reiki comes with a timely warning that despite these practices' surface appeal for helping fitness, relaxation and health, they are closely linked to underlying Eastern philosophies that are incompatible with Christianity. Vatican documents, including one authored by the present Pope when he was Cardinal Ratzinger, have highlighted the spiritual dangers associated with methods of meditation associated with Eastern religions. Despite these warnings Yoga, Tai Chi and Reiki continue to be promoted in parishes, schools and religious orders. Max Sculley's detailed and well documented analysis of Yoga, Tai Chi and Reika includes gripping personal stories that bring home the dark side of these practices. This book needs to be widely circulated among teachers, clergy and religious.

The last 50 years have seen the popularity of Chinese medicine grow exponentially. In China, Korea, Japan and Singapore, Chinese medicine has been incorporated into their healthcare systems to varying degrees. In the West, it is no longer uncommon for patients to consult Chinese medicine doctors, many of whom are non-Chinese. However, among Christians in many parts of the developed world, Chinese medicine is still viewed with suspicion and negativity. Are these fears justified? How can we better understand the roots and practices of Chinese medicine? The Dao of Healing takes us on an in-depth exploration of the histories and philosophies that have shaped both Western biomedicine and Chinese medicine in order that we might make informed judgements about them. If our call is to “love our neighbours”, we need to be able to dialogue with them on the basis of mutual respect and understanding. Let this book be the catalyst for meaningful and productive conversations across the divide.

"Either you believe in possession or you do not. It is that simple, or at least that is how it often seems. However, the existence of the possession state in the human condition is not a matter of faith, it is a phenomenon that demands exploration." So begins the introduction of this psycho-spiritual exploration of involuntary (or demonic) possession. Avoiding the pitfalls of many such works, here is presented the inarguable fact that the possession state does occur and must be taken seriously if those who are afflicted are to be helped. The only argument that remains is the attributed cause of the state. Covering a comprehensive array of topics from the history of demonic possession to a present understanding of the phenomenology and intrapsychic dynamics of the possession state, the book also provides a depth of understanding with respect to the various forms of possession encountered throughout the world. Readers will also gain an understanding of the various cultural and psychological explanations for possession, including neuropsychological, hypnosis, and psychodynamic theories. It concludes with the examination of three cases of demonic possession and the presentation of diagnostic criteria to assist in differentiating possession from common forms of psychopathology.
