On Sep. 12, 1994 at 1:49 a.m., a Cessna P150 airplane crashed onto the South lawn of the White House, killing the pilot, Frank E. Corder, but injuring no one else. On Oct. 29, 1994, a lone individual, Francisco M. Duran, fired 29 rounds from an assault rifle into the North facade of the White House -- no one was injured. This report provides a brief description of the underlying facts of the two incidents; it describes the methodology used to investigate these & other incidents & to examine the security of the White House Complex from air & ground incursions; & it includes a history of the evolution of Presidential security.
