This workshop was established as a forum for experts from different subfields in nuclear dynamics to investigate unifying concepts of nuclear reactions in different beam energy regimes. The proceedings contain an overview of recent experimental and theoretical progress in nuclear dynamics from ultra-subbarrier fusion studies to the physics of the quark-gluon plasma at AGS, CERN, and RHIC energies.

The following are the topics covered: Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions; Hadronic Interaction and Particle Production Processes; Transport Theory for Hadrons and Quark-Gluon Plasma; Hadronization Process; Disordered Chiral Condensate; Strangeness Production; Lepton Pair Production; Particle Interferometry, Electromagnetic Signals of QGP; Structure of Hadrons; Nuclear Astrophysics and Solar Neutrino Problem.

The possible upgrade of LHC or a future generation of colliders at the extreme limits of energy and luminosity will require detectors based on very advanced technological solutions to fully exploit the physics opportunities offered. Major steps must be taken to design and realize devices that are able not only to handle very high rates but also to cope with the very harsh radiation environment without suffering any performance degradation.This book reviews the present status, current limits and recent developments in detection techniques and related aspects (simulation, signal acquisition, tracking, particle identification, etc.). This volume deals mainly with physics related to the RHIC. It contains one of the first reports on the results of RHIC experiments.

This is a collection of exciting papers in the area of high energy nuclear collisions and quark gluon plasma. The volume covers lectures on the natures of hadronic matter at high temperature and/or density and signals of quark-hadron phase transitions. It also includes discussions and descriptions of the data of CERN and BNL nucleus-nucleus collisions. Other contributions deal with physics at RHIC, LHC and the PS-collider, collision simulators and various related topics.
