This volume contains the scientific papers presented at the 2nd International Conference “Contemporary Challenges in Administrative Law from an Interdisciplinary Perspective” that was held on 17 May 2019 at Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Romania. The scientific studies included in this volume are grouped into two chapters: Practical Aspects Regarding the Role of Administrative Law in the Modernization of Public Administration at European and International Level and Practical Aspects Regarding the Role of Administrative Law in the Modernization of Public Administration at National Level. This volume brings together papers presented at the Ninth International Conference “Perspectives of Business Law in the Third Millennium”, held at Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Romania, on 8th November 2019. It is divided into three sections: “Reconfiguration of administrative law from the perspective of redefining social action and public interest in the state of law”; “Administrative codification in comparative law”; and “Contemporary challenges in European and comparative administrative law”. The book will appeal to practitioners, researchers, students and PhD candidates in juridical sciences interested in recent developments in the field of administrative law at both the international and national levels.

This open access book presents a topical, comprehensive and differentiated analysis of Germany’s public administration and reforms. It provides an overview on key elements of German public administration at the federal, Länder and local levels of government as well as on current reform activities of the public sector. It examines the key institutional features of German public administration; the changing relationships between public administration, society and the private sector; the administrative reforms at different levels of the federal system and numerous sectors; and new challenges and modernization approaches like digitalization, Open Government and Better Regulation. Each chapter offers a combination of descriptive information and problem-oriented analysis, presenting key topical issues in Germany which are relevant to an international readership.
