Six months later, the couple involved in running them off the road, Andy and Marisa Janzen, bought the Weiss' Victorian London home when they moved from Joplin Missouri to Charleston Missouri when Andy took the job as hospital adminstrator. Wilbur concocts a variety of methods to try and scare the Janzen family away out of their home with the blessing of his wife. That also included the family of Hank, Cindy, Mary, and Joseph Pritchard-Hank and Cindy were also in the car with Andy and Marisa when Andy accidently clipped the rear of the Weiss' car who had been drinking celebrating his new job. Much to the dismay of Ellie, Wilbur's attempts to get rid of the Janzen family also included putting the children from both families at risk-something Ellie wanted Wilbur promised he would not do, a promise Wilbur said he could not keep, but assured his late wife, he wouldm do everything he could, to keep the innocence of the kids out of harm's way which would be an eays task. After a tragic accdient that involved the Janzen's close friends, Hank and Cindy, Andy and Marisa were determined to stay in their new home until Wilbur had no choice but to try and force the Janzen family out through the most extreme measures.

Fifteen-year-old Andy Lockwood is special. Others notice the way he blurts out anything that comes into his mind, how he cannot foresee consequences, that he's more child than teenager. But his mother sees a boy with a heart as open and wide as the ocean. Laurel Lockwood lost her son once through neglect. She's spent the rest of her life determined to make up for her mistakes, and she's succeeded in becoming a committed, protective parent—maybe even overprotective. Still, she loosens her grip just enough to let Andy attend a local church social—a decision that terrifies her when the church is consumed by fire. But Andy survives…and remarkably, saves other children from the flames. Laurel watches as Andy basks in the role of unlikely hero and the world finally sees her Andy, the sweet boy she knows as well as her own heart. But when the suspicion of arson is cast upon Andy, Laurel must ask herself how well she really knows her son…and how far she'll go to keep her promise to protect him forever.

Teased by his siblings for being a potato head, Andy Schroeder had been a good natured, optimistic young person. He was in college and deciding where to attend law school, when he received his draft papers. Soon, he was known as Spud by the guys in his unit in Vietnam. Even though he was the grenadier, he was of slight build. He was often called upon to be a tunnel rat, sent down dark, sabotaged, enemy tunnels to retrieve intelligence. By the time he was injured, the war had already taken a massive toll on Spud. He was no longer optimistic and doubted most of his previously held beliefs of life and God. He still loved his bride and his family, innocently believing that he could get home and go right back to the life he had left. Artillery fire changed all that. He did not return home as he had planned. Spud was an angry, bitter and frustrated person in a wheelchair. He doubted his beliefs, hated his situation and felt like a failure to everyone. He faced not only his visible wounds, but the ravages of the invisible ones. He tried not to be hateful, but not very successfully. After Vietnam, Spud felt his life was no more than a pile of useless potato peelings. He tried to put them together to get his life back, but found it a monumental task. With the help of his family, faith and friends, he began to put them back together-- one peeling at a time.

What do you do when two million people hate your guts? Sergeant Andy Wong, of Hong Kong’s famed Police Tactical Unit (PTU), Bravo Company is an honourable man who loves his job. When the people of Hong Kong take to the streets to voice their displeasure against government policies, it’s Andy and his fellow colleagues who are tasked with maintaining law and order and putting an end to the riots and disruption that begin to plague the city. But after months of constant duty, days and nights on the streets enduring verbal and physical abuse from the public, ostracised by his friends, and a deteriorating relationship with his family, the cracks begin to show. When the lines between truth and falsehood, good and bad, become increasingly blurred, and faced with a wife who barely speaks to him, and a daughter he never sees, Andy becomes increasingly conflicted. Who really are the bad guys? Where should his loyalty lie? Who is helping the rioters disappear from right under the noses of the PTU patrols?
