Every person is unique. At least we believe ourselves to be. Many of us have a heightened sexuality. With the latter group, a common denominator must exist in the pulsating intensity and grinding confusion I have found in the rollercoaster ride which has been my sex life. As a homosexual man who has breathed in more than half of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st Centuries I have experienced some priviliged moments, always with the knowledge of being a man set apart, mostly because I am a Queer. Looking back on my life I recogonize it as a rich tapestry of favourable experiences - my work as a successful hairdresser in the film industry in Toronto with celebrity acquaintances, my family, my friends, my pets, home, music, travel, and my lovers. Well, the lovers don't all fall into the success category but do add colour to the picture. Because of the dark wings of Depression which have hovered over me throughout much of my life, the element of Joy has been elusive in spite of a splendid endowment of entitlement ( or plain old fashioned good luck) - bestowed on me by Fate. My addiction to the pursuit of sexual gratification which has ruled my social patterns and actions since I was a child is all part of the story. Sometimes I think it is my story.

Why is this not just another self-help book? I hope you will find a great deal of difference in this book. I have done thirty-five years of counseling with couples, groups, teenagers, and individuals. I have three children and seven grandchildren who have been an integral part of my life. Just Another Day is the true life story of an FBI agent after a short career as a New York City police officer. The sequence of events not only captures investigations and arrests but also involves interactions with a number of individuals on both sides of the law, to include a childhood friendship with a man who rose to be the right hand of the boss of the Gambino crime family, John Gotti Jr. This book is geared toward individuals who have a taste for true crime stories (including stories of Italian organized crime figures) that are entwined with events involving a special agent of the FBI during the course of a twenty-eight-year career. The stories begin with an evolving saga that involves the struggles growing up in a neighborhood that was affected by the violence of the crew of associates of John Gotti Sr. It then takes you through episodes experienced during six years as a cop in the high-crime areas during the 1980s in Harlem and Washington Heights, which culminate with working with the special agents that brought down Gotti in the 1990s.

The commercialization of sport since the 1990s has had a number of consequences. The market forces that have defined commercialization, notably pay-per-view television, whilst initially welcomed as important new sources of revenue, have also had the unanticipated consequences of de-stabilizing many sporting competitions and institutions, undermining the financial future of clubs in their traditional role as key social and cultural institutions. This has been manifested in the paradox of chronic financial loss-making amongst professional sports’ clubs in an era of exponential revenue growth, a trend exemplified by the experience of Italy’s Series A and the English Premier League – both cases examined in detail in this book. But, at the same time, some traditional sporting organizations have sought with some success, to chart a middle way, retaining traditional sporting movement objectives whilst also embracing a form of commercialism. The Gaelic Athletic Association in Ireland, the supporter-owned FC Barcelona football club, and New Zealand rugby union, offer illustrative examples of such strategies examined in detail. This book explores the background to this clash of commercial and traditional sporting objectives, and debates the consequences for wider sports governance.
