Miami is one of the United States' most fascinating cities. While the rest of the country endures snowstorms and cold weather, Miami is always hot and sexy. By day, the sun, sea, and Art Deco architecture highlight Miami's unique history and heritage. However, it is truly at night when the city comes alive. Miami at Night is a cityscape photography book featuring over 70 photos, including over 40 large panoramic photos that capture the essence of the energy that pulsates through nocturnal Miami. The book tells a unique visual story of the city (Brickell, Brickell Key, Key Biscayne, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Downtown Miami, and Miami Beach) through photography at angles and vantage points that are rarely seen by the average Miamian or tourist.

Considered by many as the country’s most dynamic, fastest growing and sexiest city, Miami is more popular than ever before. Yet, it is a city that doesn’t merely change but evolves, never rewriting the past, just adding to its illustrious heritage. And this is the real beauty of Miami. The chic Surf Club and the vibrant Faena Hotel did not replace the emblematic Raleigh of the 1940s nor the Ritz Carlton of the 50s, rather they complement them. Classics like Joe’s Stone Crab continue to serve their signature fare to sell-out crowds each night, as new establishments attract with name chefs. The iconic art deco architecture remains on full display as the modern Herzog & de Meuron-designed Perez Art Museum stands in stark contrast. Replete with arts and culture year round from the international art at The Bass to the street art of Wynwood Walls, each December, the city is taken over by the global cultural elite for Art Basel Miami Beach, a fair that attracts over 80,000 visitors who turn out for the momentous art, such as Maurizio Cattelan’s show stopping “Comedian”, and the exuberant festivities hosted each evening.

Before they were icons they were friends The world would come to know him as Muhammad Ali, but on 25 February 1964, a twenty-two-year-old Cassius Clay celebrated his world heavyweight title not by hitting the town, but in a hotel room with his three closest friends: activist Malcolm X, singer Sam Cooke and American football star Jim Brown. To the outside world, they were American icons. But in that hotel room, here were four men who understood each other and their moment in history in a way that no one else could. With the Civil Rights movement stirring outside, and the melody of A Change is Gonna Come hanging in the air, these men would emerge from that room ready to define a new world. Kemp Powers's tough talking, in-your-face debut play premiered in LA in 2013 where it won the Ted Schmitt Award for outstanding world premiere of a new play along with three LA Drama Critics Circle Awards, four NAACP Theatre Awards and LA Weekly Theater Awards for playwriting. This edition was originally published to coincide with the European premiere at London's Donmar Warehouse in 2016 where it received critical acclaim. It was later adapted into a feature film, released in January 2021.

Miami Nights is a follow up to Moist which was published back in 2012 but actually written in 2004. At the time of writing Moist I was living in Miami, Florida and heard the voices of the characters JaLisa and Richard while riding on Miami Transit and could not get them to stop speaking to me. The more they spoke the more I wrote. My family and I moved up to Port Saint Lucie, Florida at the end of 2006 and I no longer heard the characters until I decided to take a trip back down to Miami in early 2012. They were both back and speaking to me more than ever. I was able to publish Moist and decided the following year that I needed to be back in Miami and there it began. I would hear JaLisa and Richard All the time! I remember being at the beach, in bars and even night clubs hearing them speak to me. I would ask the person behind the bar to give me a few pieces of paper from their printer so that I could write down something. Fast forward a few months and I found myself in a position where I felt as though I was facing death. I write about that in by book Attitude of Gratitude under the name Ebony Simms. I decided then that I didn't want to tell JaLisa and Richard's story anymore. I was even called by a major publisher to do my story and my response to them was I didn't write like that anymore. I shelved this book for years because of the conflict I felt with my faith and this writing style. Miami Nights is very explicit! As I sat thinking one day it came to me don't die with your music in you. I pulled out the paperwork from a company I started by in 2012 Inner Voice Publishing and JaLisa and Richard were reawakend! If you do not like to read about sex, lies, drama, more sex, lies and drama please either put this book back on the shelf or skip along to the next novel that won't be so stimulating. For all of my day one supporters, followers and encouragers I love you guys so very much and I put this book out for you because You kept asking for it!!!
