India's National Education Policy 2020 is essentially an all-encompassing framework to manage the improvement of the national academic curriculum. This programme covers the complete educational system of this country, from primary schooling to universities in both rural and urban India. Education is crucial for fostering individual growth, creating a more fair and equitable community, and advancing national progress. India's continuous rise and worldwide leadership in areas such as economic development, social fairness and equality, scientific progress, national integration, and cultural preservation hinge on the country's ability to ensure that all of its citizens have access to a high-quality education. For the sake of the person, the community, the nation, and the globe, our country's great skills and resources should be developed and maximised via universal high-quality education. During the next decade, India will have the world's largest youth population, and the success of our nation will depend on whether or not we can provide them access to good schools. In addition to providing an overview of India's National Education Policy 2020, this book also provides a short explanation of that policy from 1986 and discusses such topics as value education and the importance of understanding one's own and society's values. The 2020 New Education Policy and the NPE of 1986 are both discussed in the book, along with similarities between the two. The national education policy 2020 places a premium on the integration of assessments and evaluation within the school's curriculum and pedagogy.

There is a vast literature on the principles of public administration and good governance, and no shortage of theoreticians, practitioners and donors eager to push for public sector reform, especially in less-developed countries. Papua New Guinea has had its share of public sector reforms, frequently under the influence of multinational agencies and aid donors. Yet there seems to be a general consensus, both within and outside Papua New Guinea, that policy making and implementation have fallen short of expectations, that there has been a failure to achieve 'good governance'. This volume, which brings together a number of Papua New Guinean and Australian-based scholars and practitioners with deep familiarity of policy making in Papua New Guinea, examines the record of policy making and implementation in Papua New Guinea since independence. It reviews the history of public sector reform in Papua New Guinea, and provides case studies of policy making and implementation in a number of areas, including the economy, agriculture, mineral development, health, education, lands, environment, forestry, decentralization, law and order, defence, women and foreign affairs, privatization, and AIDS. Policy is continuously evolving, but this study documents the processes of policy making and implementation over a number of years, with the hope that a better understanding of past successes and failures will contribute to improved governance in the future.

Provides the most up-to-date and comprehensive review of contemporary research in education policy implementation. A companion to Allan R. Odden’s Education Policy Implementation, also published by SUNY Press, this book presents original work by a new generation of scholars contributing to education policy implementation research. The contributors define education policy implementation as the product of the interaction among particular policies, people, and places. Their analyses of previous generations of implementation research reveal that contemporary findings not only build directly on lessons learned from the past, but also seek to deepen past findings. These contemporary researchers also break from the past by seeking a more nuanced, contingent, and rigorous theory-based explication of how implementation unfolds. They argue that researchers and practitioners can help improve education policy implementation by not asking simply what works, but rather focusing their attention on what works, for whom, where, when, and why. Meredith I. Honig is Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Washington at Seattle.
