As per the calculation of certain discerning sages of the yore, the earth is likely to pass through the path of large comet fragments and astral debris in the next few years. Such a cataclysm can engender widespread devastation for all species and decimate human civilisation. After solving the uncanny mystery behind the disappearance of a few botanists, Chef Lisa and Botanist Arjun incidentally get paired up with an impassioned archaeologist. Together, they set out to unearth the clues that would lead them to an intriguing, esoteric technology, which might neutralise the impact of the impending cataclysm significantly. Pitched against a global criminal force and a multitude of challenges, they travel to different continents to explore the sites of antediluvian civilisations in their quest for global safety. Guided by the wise ones of a pre-historic tribe of Peru, the series of revelations that they unravel is beyond their wildest imagination.

A riveting and profound read. This intriguing book retains its momentum from beginning to end. The mysterious disappearances of people in the mist-enshrouded mountains of the Eastern Highlands are used effectively to lay bare much of a dark past. It contrasts events in the new Zimbabwe of the nineties against Rhodesia and a fractured pre-colonial history. It kept me spellbound. Africa holds a unique fascination amidst its exotic landscape and Cliff McIlwaine captures and brings together an assortment of colourful characters from different cultural backgrounds which enhance the dramatic tensions. A magical combination of the prosaic and the spiritual creates fascinating insights into the social, political and historical ethos of Zimbabwe. An enjoyable novel which certainly held my attention. Don and Phyllis Munday are western Canada's most famous mountaineering couple. Active members of the Alpine Club of Canada, they climbed for almost four decades throughout the Pacific Northwest, as well as in the Selkirks and the Rocky Mountains. The Mundays were ahead of their time. They are chiefly renowned for their tenacity and environmental awareness, as well as for their scientific contributions in exploring and documenting the little-known Coast Mountains. Their joint climbs from the 1920s through the 1940s included scaling 150-plus mountains; more than 40 were first ascents. A Passion for Mountains features a broad selection of the Mundays' photographs and incorporates their own words to describe many of their ascents.
