El libro ofrece conceptos básicos de modelamiento ambiental e introduce al lector en el uso del lenguaje de programación R. El abordaje propuesto abarca los diversos medios (agua, aire, suelo y biota) y presenta las generalidades de la materia. Esta aproximación conlleva, en algunos casos, el simplificar, bajo criterios de ingeniería y desarrollos idealizados, situaciones ambientales que de otra forma serían muy complejas de abordar. El fortalecimiento de las capacidades de modelación ambiental posibilita el uso de modelos en el diagnóstico de la contaminación ambiental y en la toma de decisiones de política pública.

The book aims at showing the state-of-the-art in the field of modeling and applications in mathematics education. This is the first volume to do this.
