This book summarizes work being undertaken within the collaborative MODAClouds research project, which aims to facilitate interoperability between heterogeneous Cloud platforms and remove the constraints of deployment, portability, and reversibility for end users of Cloud services. Experts involved in the project provide a clear overview of the MODAClouds approach and explain how it operates in a variety of applications. While the wide spectrum of available Clouds constitutes a vibrant technical environment, many early-stage issues pose specific challenges from a software engineering perspective. MODAClouds will provide methods, a decision support system, and an open source IDE and run-time environment for the high-level design, early prototyping, semiautomatic code generation, and automatic deployment of applications on multiple Clouds. It will free developers from the need to commit to a fixed Cloud technology stack during software design and offer benefits in terms of cost savings, portability of applications and data between Clouds, reversibility (moving applications and data from Cloud to non-Cloud environments), risk management, quality assurance, and flexibility in the development process.

This volume contains the technical papers presented in the workshops, which took place at the 6th European Conference on Service-Oriented and Cloud Computing, ESOCC 2017, held in Oslo, Norway, September 2017: First International Workshop on Business Process Management in the Cloud, BPM@Cloud 2017; Third International Workshop on Cloud Adoption and Migration, CloudWays 2017. The 9 full papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 12 submissions. In addition, the volume also contains 8 EU Projects papers, describing projects presented at the European Projects Forum, which took place at ESOCC 2017. The papers focus on specific topics in service-oriented and cloud computing domains such as limits and/or advantages of existing cloud solutions, future internet technologies, efficient and adaptive deployment and management of service-based applications across multiple clouds, novel cloud service migration practices and solutions, digitization of enterprises in the cloud computing era, federated cloud networking services.

This volume contains the technical papers presented in the seven high-quality workshops associated with the European Conference on Service-Oriented and Cloud Computing, ESOCC 2015, held in Taormina, Italy, in September 2015: Third International Workshop on Cloud for IoT (CLloT 2015), 5th International Workshop on Adaptive Services for the Future Internet (WAS4FI 2015), Second Workshop on Seamless Adaptive Multi-cloud Management of Service-Based Applications (SeaClouds 2015), First International Workshop on Cloud Adoption and Migration (CloudWay 2015), First International Workshop on Digital Enterprise Architecture and Engineering (IDEA 2015), First Workshop on Federated Cloud Networking (FedCloudNet 2015). The 25 full papers and 6 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 48 submissions. They focus on specific topics in service-oriented and cloud computing domains such as limits and /or advantages of existing cloud solutions, Future Internet technologies, efficient and adaptive deployment and management of service-based applications across multiple clouds, novel cloud service migration practices and solutions, digitization of enterprises in the cloud computing era, federated cloud networking services.

The theory of concurrent engineering is based on the concept that the different phases of a product lifecycle should be conducted concurrently and initiated as early as possible within the product creation process. Concurrent engineering is important in many industries, including automotive, aerospace, shipbuilding, consumer goods and environmental engineering, as well as in the development of new services and service support. This book presents the proceedings of the 21st ISPE Inc. International Conference on Concurrent Engineering, held at Beijing Jiaotong University, China, in September 2014. It is the first volume of a new book series: 'Advances in Transdisciplinary Engineering'. The title of the CE2014 conference is: 'Moving Integrated Product Development to Service Clouds in the Global Economy', which reflects the variety of processes and methods which influence modern product creation.
