This book is an excellent source of history and insight. It’s full of inspiration and encouragement. Bringing scripture and history together with divine purpose is ingenious. Tammie Dennis Allen Chapel AME Church Sacramento, California I was thrilled to write this review. I’ve grown to respect and see Dr. Roy Jones Jr. as a mentor, especially as a friend. I am always intrigued by Dr. Jones as he shares his love for the Lord, his knowledge, and also his journey. Speaking of his life journey, it takes God, family, ministry, and education to understand one’s personal journey. My Journey: The Family, The Army, The Ministry, Life and Education encourages us to stay the course despite the ups and downs of life, drawing on three phases that provide the basic combat training that promotes values. Dr. Jones has written a timely practical book fit for ministry in the twenty-first century. This is a book all pastors, leaders, and laity need to read and use as a resource for helping to press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God. Rev. Drawing on peer-reviewed research, worker and rescuer testimony, and encounters with the farm animals themselves, The Ultimate Betrayal discusses the recent shift in raising and labeling animals processed for food and the misinformation surrounding this new method of farming. This book explores how language manipulates consumers concepts about sustainability, humane treatment, and what is truly healthy. It answers important questions surrounding the latest small-scale farming fad: Is this trend the answer to the plentiful problems of raising animals for food? What do the labels actually mean? Are these products humane, environmentally friendly, or healthy? Can there really be happy meat, milk, or eggs? With case studies and compelling science, The Ultimate Betrayal increases awareness of the issues surrounding our treatment of animals, global health, and making better food choices. The Ultimate Betrayal is a well-rounded and thoroughly-researched book that touches the heart with an honest and unflinching look at the reality behind humane labels. With real-life examples from multiple viewpoints and thought-provoking philosophical underpinnings, The Ultimate Betrayal is a must-read for anyone interested in ethical food choices. (Book). Love, Peace, and Soul tells the story of the television phenomenon known as Soul Train , a show created in the land of bell bottoms, afros, and soul power; a show that became the touchstone of the Baby Boomer generation. Don Cornelius, host and owner of the show, was one of the coolest cats on television. With his platform shoes, wide neckties, and mellifluous voice, he showed the world just how corny American Bandstand was in comparison. In 2012, fans were shocked to hear one of the most powerful men in the music and television business took his own life. Love, Peace, and Soul is a celebratory, behind-the-scenes collection of anecdotes, stories, and reflections, from the people who were there, about the host, the show, and the power of black music and dance on television. Music and television connoisseurs will enjoy the history of not just Soul Train , but of other shows, including Shindig! , Don Kirshner's Rock Concert , Hullabaloo , American Bandstand , and Graffiti Rock . Entrepreneurs will be interested in Cornelius' humble beginnings with the local version of the show in Chicago, created with his own money. Fans will delight in the lively images and the quirky details. The first mass market book on Soul Train since Cornelius's passing, this volume has something for everyone. Includes afterword by Gary Harris.
