La pyramide de Kheops... La Grande Pyramide... La Septième Merveille du monde... Le monument des superlatifs... Comment aurais-je pu croire un jour que j'allais vivre durant ces dix dernières années une aventure aussi passionnante grâce à cet extraordinaire édifice planté à l'orée du désert Libyque, sur la rive ouest du Nil, et maître du temps depuis plus de quarante-cinq siècles? Un jour, Kheops a croisé mon chemin et, inexorablement, le défi m'est apparu: je me devais de comprendre comment mes confrères architectes de l'époque avaient pu construire une telle montagne de pierres avec si peu de moyens. Le projet est né en 1999 d'une simple idée, mais une idée en rupture totale avec la pensée unique sur ce sujet. Depuis des décennies, les égyptologues, les ingénieurs, les architectes, les "inventeurs" ou tout simplement les passionnés d'Egypte ancienne butaient contre la réalité, impuissants à résoudre rationnellement l'énigme de la construction de la pyramide de Kheops. Avec l'aide de la 3D numérique, condition indispensable, tout s'est lentement débloqué, et j'ai pu me glisser peu à peu dans les pensées des concepteurs, souvent étonné par la simplicité des solutions adoptées, parfois stupéfait par l'audace du projet, mais toujours émerveillé par ces hommes d'une intelligence remarquable. Car c'est bien là que se trouve la réponse au mystère de la pyramide. Ces bâtisseurs - Hemiounou, "superviseur des travaux royaux", en tête - avaient déjà réuni toutes les connaissances et compétences pour s'attaquer à un tel chantier après seulement un siècle d'expérimentations. Aussi ne pouvons-nous qu'admirer l'actualité des valeurs développées par la société égyptienne antique : vision à long terme dans la conception d'un projet, expertise technologique, capacité à organiser un chantier complexe, etc. En fait, le mystère n'a perduré si longtemps qu'à cause de notre ignorance. Blake and Mortimer head to the United States to investigate the mysterious circumstances surrounding the discovery of a 177-year-old body, which appears to have died very recently. The body is that of a Scottish major, Mortimer’s forebear, who was leading a British military expedition to the US in 1777, where he was swallowed up by a strange multi-coloured light-beam shining down from the sky. Blake and Mortimer fight men in black armed with green-laser guns and soldiers emerging from the past in order to save the Earth from complete obliteration.

Tasked by the queen to close the ‘Septimus Wave’ case once and for all, Captain Blake is facing a daunting task, for many questions remain unanswered. Where did the spaceship buried beneath London come from? What became of Lady Rowana and Professor Evangely? Meanwhile, Mortimer is trying to pull Olrik out of the catatonic state the villain has been in since his encounter with the ship’s occupant. Has the threat to the nation truly been vanquished?
