In this tumultuous world, characterized by unprecedented migratory movements, societal evolution intersects with an increasing diversity that presents profound challenges. The global landscape is marked by 33 armed conflicts in 2022 alone, resulting in forced displacement and an exceeding count of 100 million displaced individuals worldwide. The traditional understanding of migration as a response to individualized prosecution has expanded to encompass "survival migration," incorporating environmental change and livelihood collapse. This paradigm shift necessitates a reevaluation of human rights and a compelling call for transformative global and intercultural education to address the vulnerabilities, inequities, and discrimination faced by displaced and native youth. Transformative Intercultural Global Education is a project aimed at shedding light on educational inequalities stemming from race, migration, forced displacement, and cultural factors. Through innovative empirical results, theoretical frameworks, and educational practices, this book seeks to contribute to quality education and, subsequently, a more sustainable society. The objective is to provide educators with proposals that strengthen educational policies and programs aligned with global citizenship, fostering sensitivity, critical thinking, and commitment towards respectful and tolerant coexistence. The research outcomes are designed to encourage actions that promote equity, social justice, and the sustainable development of a global society.

"Contributors to this volume explore crucial issues regarding the articulation of politics at the beginning of the new millennium. What does sovereignty in the state mean in the contemporary world of neoliberal capitalism?" "The events of 9/11 have added dramatic urgency to these issues. Some of the contributors to this volume discuss questions associated with this new international context. But ultimately the volume's goal is to stimulate productive ways of thinking simultaneously about the dynamics articulating the concrete situation of identity politics or violence and the global rhetoric of international terrorism that has come to dominate the political discourse." --Book Jacket.

This book explores the new debates on Basque sovereignty and statehood that have emerged in the post-violence Basque political scenario. It deciphers how sovereignty is understood or imagined by a revitalized civil society after the unilateral cessation of operations by ETA (Basque Homeland and Freedom). The contributors to this book investigate the new political field developing in the nexus between conventional party politics, established socio-cultural and linguistic organizations, creative civil society initiatives, and innovative activism. This book is for graduate students, scholars and professionals in political science, social anthropology, European studies, political philosophy, transnational studies, sociology, political geography, and global studies. It will also be of interest to academic specialists in Basque studies, specialists working on sovereignty, nationalism and globalization, and professionals in governance, international relations, foreign affairs, European politics and diplomacy.
